In his Gospel St John has recorded a wonderful phrase of our Lady. At the wedding of Cana she turned to the waiters and said: "Do whatever he tells you." That's what it's all about — getting people to face Jesus and ask him: "Lord, what do you want me to do?"

The christian apostolate — and I'm talking about an ordi-nary Christian living as just one more man or woman among equals — is a great work of teaching. Through real, personal, loyal friendship, you create in others a hunger for God and you help them to discover new hori-zons — naturally, simply. With the example of your faith lived to the full, with a loving word which is full of the force of divine truth. Be daring. Count on the help of Mary, queen of apostles. Without ceasing to be a mother, our Lady is able to get each of her children to face his own responsibilities. Mary always does the immense favour of bringing to the cross, of placing face to face with the example of the Son of God, those who come close to her and contemplate her life. It is in this confrontation that christian life is decid-ed. And here Mary intercedes for us so that our behaviour may lead to a reconciliation of the younger brother — you and me — with the firstborn Son of the Father. Many conversions, many decisions to give oneself to the service of God have been preceded by an encounter with Mary. Our Lady has encouraged us to look for God, to desire to change, to lead a new life. And so the "Do what-ever he tells you" has turned into real self-giving, into a christian vocation, which from then on enlightens all our personal life. This conversation in our Lord's presence, in which we have thought about devotion to and affection for his Mother and ours, can really give new vigour to our faith. Let's try each day to show her, through little things, little attentions, that we, her children, love her, that our holi-ness and apostolate are becoming something real, that we are making a constant effort to contribute to the salvation which Christ has brought to the world. Sancta Maria, spes nostra, ancilla Domini, sedes Sapien-tiae, ora pro nobis! Holy Mary, our hope, handmaid of the Lord, seat of Wisdom, pray for us!

San Juan conserva en su Evangelio una frase maravi-llosa de la Virgen, en una escena que ya antes conside-rábamos: la de las bodas de Caná. Nos narra el evangelis-ta que, dirigiéndose a los sir-vientes, María les dijo: Ha-ced lo que El os dirá. De eso se trata; de llevar a las almas

a que se sitúen frente a Jesús y le pregunten: Domine, quid me vis facere?, Señor, ¿qué quieres que yo haga?.

El apostolado cristiano —y me refiero ahora en concreto al de un cristiano corriente, al del hombre o la mujer que vive siendo uno más entre sus iguales— es una gran cate-quesis, en la que, a través del trato personal, de una amis-tad leal y auténtica, se despierta en los demás el hambre de Dios y se les ayuda a descubrir horizontes nuevos: con naturalidad, con sencillez he dicho, con el ejemplo de una fe bien vivida, con la palabra amable pero llena de la fuerza de la verdad divina.

Sed audaces. Contáis con la ayuda de María, Regina apostolorum. Y Nuestra Señora, sin dejar de comportarse como Madre, sabe colocar a sus hijos delante de sus pre-cisas responsabilidades. María, a quienes se acercan a Ella y contemplan su vida, les hace siempre el inmenso favor de llevarlos a la Cruz, de ponerlos frente a frente al ejemplo del Hijo de Dios. Y en ese enfrentamiento, don-de se decide la vida cristiana, María intercede para que nuestra conducta culmine con una reconciliación del her-mano menor —tú y yo— con el Hijo primogénito del Padre.

Muchas conversiones, muchas decisiones de entrega al servicio de Dios han sido precedidas de un encuentro con María. Nuestra Señora ha fomentado los deseos de bús-queda, ha activado maternalmente las inquietudes del al-ma, ha hecho aspirar a un cambio, a una vida nueva. Y así el haced lo que El os dirá se ha convertido en realidades de amoroso entregamiento, en vocación cristiana que ilu-mina desde entonces toda nuestra vida personal.

Este rato de conversación delante del Señor, en el que hemos meditado sobre la devoción y el cariño a la Madre suya y nuestra, puede, pues, terminar reavivando nuestra fe. El Señor quiere de nosotros que no desaprovechemos esta ocasión de crecer en su Amor a través del trato con su Madre. Que cada día sepamos tener con Ella esos deta-lles de hijos —cosas pequeñas, atenciones delicadas—, que se van haciendo grandes realidades de santidad per-sonal y de apostolado, es decir, de empeño constante por contribuir a la salvación que Cristo ha venido a traer al mundo.

Sancta Maria, spes nostra, ancilla Domini, sedes sapien-tiæ, ora por nobis! Santa María, esperanza nuestra, escla-va del Señor, asiento de la Sabiduría, ¡ruega por nosotros!

Holy Hour for Persecuted Christians and World Peace There will be a bilingual Holy Hour led by Fr. David Yankauskas, OMV. Every Tuesday night, 7:15pm – 8:15 pm in the Main Church, immediately following the Bilingual Mass. The Holy Hour will include: 1)A bilingual rosary accompanied by meditation reading. 2)A bilingual meditation on present-day Christian martyrs, martyrdom in general, or on the Passion of Christ. 3)Benediction and blessing to conclude the Holy Hour

Did You Know? -- How do parents handle an admission of abuse? No parent wants their children to suffer from abuse of any kind. How-ever, if a child discloses any instance of abuse, how you handle this information is critical to their well-being. One of the most important things you can do when a child discloses their abuse is not over react, despite the strong and often overwhelming emotions of anger that you are experiencing at that moment. Be certain that you show the child great love and concern through calm, reflective words of understanding and compassion.
