FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR AUGUST WORSHIP: As we celebrate this month, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15th), patroness of the Acadian

people, may we recall with Thanksgiving our Lady's perfect example of Faith in God and her many protections and favors shown to us through her loving intercession. FAITH FORMATION: For all parents at the start of a new year of Catechism. As the first teachers of the Faith to their children, may they be

guided and strengthened in word and deed in handing on the precious gift of our Catholic Faith to all our children. EVANGELIZATION: In this month dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament, may our hearts be transformed by the grace of Jesus' Transfiguration

through Adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist so that we may desire nothing else to Him. SOCIAL JUSTICE: Let us continue to pray for our beloved people of Acadiana seeking to heal from the senseless act of violence brought

to our community on July 23rd by the shooting at the Grand 16 Theater in Lafayette. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: In continued thanksgiving for the great start of our Capital Campaign to repair our Church and Adoration

Chapel. May God reward all of those who have committed to our parish's Capital Campaign by prayer, time and finance.

THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT

In this month dedicated to The Most Blessed Sacrament: We pray for our priests who, through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, daily make present to us our Eucharistic Lord.

God, our Father, in the transfigured glory of Christ Your Son, You strengthen our faith by confirming the witness of Your prophets and by showing to us the splendor of Your beloved Son. Help us to become heirs to the eternal life with Him, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

ST. JOHN MARIE VIANNEY PATRON SAINT OF PARISH PRIESTS

Feast Day, August 4th “The Priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus.”

~St. John Marie Vianney

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS O Jesus, Eternal Priest, look down with love upon Thy priests. Fill them with burning zeal for the

conversion of sinners. Keep them within the shelter of Thy Sacred Heart. Keep unstained their anointed hands which daily touch Thy Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips purpled with Thy precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly their hearts sealed with the sublime marks of Thy glorious Priesthood. Let Thy holy love protect them from the world's contagion. Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls to whom they minister on earth be one day their joy and consolation in heaven. Amen.

In Adoration we unite in love with our Lord and respond to Jesus’ invitation, “Could you not spend at least one hour with me?”

Eucharistic Adoration is an especially grace-filled call! Our Adoration Chapel is in need of adorers (prayer partners).

Would you be available on: Sunday: 10am, 12noon, 7pm; Monday: 12noon; Tuesday: 4pm, 8pm; Wednesday: 11pm; Friday: 10am, 10pm; Saturday: 11am, 12noon, 4pm

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION ~ IN THANKSGIVING

The Adorers of Perpetual Adoration wish to thank Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for the following favor:

“JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”

ST. FAUSTINA: "I want to live in the spirit of faith. I accept everything that comes my way as given me by the loving will of God, who sincerely desires my happiness. And so I will accept with submission and gratitude everything that God sends me. I will pay no attention to the voice of nature and to the promptings of self-love. Before each important action, I will stop to consider for a moment what relationship it has to eternal life and what may be the main reason for

my undertaking it: is it for the glory of God, or for the good of my own soul, or for the good of the souls of others? If my heart says yes, then I will not swerve from carrying out the given action, unmindful of either obstacles or sacrifices. I will not be frightened into abandoning my intention. It is enough for me to know that it is pleasing to God. On the other hand, if I learn that the action has nothing in common with what I have just mentioned, I will try to elevate it to a loftier sphere by means of a good intention. And if I learn that something flows from my self-love, I will cancel it out right from the start." (Diary 1549)

PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS

Then will the words that are written be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” ~1 Cor 15:54

REFLECTION: At the scene of the first murder of Abel by Cain, the soil “opened its mouth” to swallow Abel’s blood (Gen 4:10-11). At the scene of the final victory of life, it is death itself that will be “swallowed up in victory.” God is in the business of destroying death, and that is why His people work on behalf of life.

PRAYER: Lord, continue to give us consolation amidst a Culture of Death, that this evil will not last forever but will be swallowed up in victory.

As humble shepherds, let them walk among Your people as friend, healer, reconciler and man of prayer. As fathers in the Spirit, let their ministry be selfless and life-giving, an ever-flowing stream of the divine compassion. Let their lives be transparent sacraments of Your love, and when they preach Your holy word, let it be with a fire born of their own love for You, who are the Father’s Word of love to the world. Like You, Lord Jesus, let them hate ill-doing but love the sinner, always careful not to break the bruised reed, always striving to be loved, not feared. Like You, Lord Jesus, let them be peace… Amen.

THE ASSUMPTION

OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

AUGUST 15TH Novena Prayer in Honor of Our Lady (August 7th – 15th)

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Almighty and eternal God, You took the holy Virgin up into the kingdom of heaven after she had heard the word of God and kept it. We ask You to make us, Your servants, always intent on the things which are above, so that we may come to share in her glory. We pray through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them

safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

We give to the support of the Church, NOT because the Church needs, but because WE NEED to give back to God a thankful share of what He has first given to us!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS AND STEWARDSHIP! BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT,

WE HAVE A WONDERFUL PLACE OF WORSHIP.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT EGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

In today’s Gospel we hear Jesus proclaiming that He is “the bread of life.” He then offers an invitation to come to Him. For us, the invitation is to live the Eucharistic life in Christ. What does it mean for our parish family to live together in the Eucharist? What does it mean for us to share the Eucharist together, to participate in the “bread of life” together? Does it mean we love each other, support our community of faith, work together? Do we carry each other’s burdens? Celebrate our joys? What are the practical implications of being good stewards

of our Eucharistic life together?

ROSARY FOR PEACE

The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.
