Friday evening after the Swimming Carnival was a time to chill and watch movies – ex-cept for the new girls in the junior dorm, who had all been invited to Libby’s for dinner. They clearly enjoyed their evening as they were gone for ages and, as Libby put it, ‘they scoffed the lot!’. Thanks to Libby for going to the trouble – a lovely thought.

On Saturday morning a few of the girls returned to the pool to do some swimming train-ing with Allan, while others just relaxed or went to town with friends.

On Saturday evening it was quiz night with the boys over in the dining room. The rounds were interspersed with games such as ‘pass the onion’ and ‘fairy fluff’, and the team that came out winners consisted of Cameron, Umema, Don, Natalie, Isaac and Chelseanna. We hope they enjoy using their movie vouchers. Thanks to Grant and Libby for organising the evening.

There was no prep on Sunday because of the Carnival, so Sunday was a laid back day with probably the most energetic part of the day for most being an evening swim.

Now we are all looking forward to next week’s exeat weekend!

Congratulations go to Daniel Brown (Year 9) and George Worrall (Year 9) who have been chosen to represent the NT in the upcoming 2013 Australian Boys Amateur and Interstate Golf Series being played in Western Australia – Pinjarra and Bunbury Golf Course. George Worrall has also just returned from Tasmania where he played in the Tasmanian Amateur Open. A great learning experience for him!

A special mention must also go to Mitch Tieck (Year 11) who has been in the squad all year but has just missed out in the final team selection. All three boys have worked extremely hard this year to try and get into the team of six, and are of very similar ability. It is a testament to the skills and mentoring of golf professional Stephen Tieck, that Alice Springs Junior Golf is so strong. Stephen has made junior golf accessible and fun. His wealth of knowledge and advanced coaching skills are a real blessing for Alice Springs and St Philip’s. Finally, the first round matches were played last week for the Rock Tour Trophy. The first team to reach 10 ½ points will win. The results are as follows.

Life is a Gift

Today before you think of saying an unkind word–think of someone who can’t speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food–think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife–think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life–think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children–think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.

Chaplain’s Message Before you argue about your dirty house that someone didn’t clean or sweep–think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive–think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job–think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another–remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down–put a smile on your face and thank God you’re alive and still around.

Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.
