Welcome Visitors
We wish to extend a warm welcome to all who
attend Mass with us each weekend as visitors to
St. Richard Parish.
We are happy to have you with us. Please introduce yourself to
our priests, Fr. Flannagan, and Fr. Martin at the back of the
Church at the end of Mass.
~ ~~~~ All Are Welcome ~ ~~~~
We would like to extend a warm and caring invitation to you to
join our parish. We look forward to having you become a
member of our faith community. Each individual member of our
Parish is an important part of the Catholic family. The gifts of
faith from the Lord are strengthened and deepened by our
Communion in Jesus Christ. The celebration of the
Eucharist is the heart of our parish life.
Come share your “faith”, your time and your talent in one of
our wonderful ministries.

14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Have you ever stopped to consider all of the people who
have done something for you that makes your life better?
Parents, relatives, friends, neighbors, teachers, pastors, nuns,
and strangers have helped us along the way. From them we
learned life skills and life lessons that serve us all through
life, everything from catechism to math, from tying our
shoes to writing our résumé. We owe others so much for our
success. So how do you say thanks?
We can express our appreciation in so many ways. A written
note, a conversation, or a small gift can acknowledge
someone’s gift to us and offer thanks for his or her
generosity. That assumes we know who they are, or can
remember what they have done. But others have worked
anonymously, or helped us at a time when we did not realize
how good they were to us. So, the best way to express our
thanks is to pass on the gift we have received. By teaching or
helping or mentoring someone else, we honor those who
have made a difference in our life, enabling their generosity
to continue influencing and helping others. Be grateful for all
that you have received and pass it on!

Peter’s Pence Collection
Thank you for your generous support of our Holy Father’s
charitable works in the Peter’s Pence Collection.
Your contributions will be combined with those of our
brothers and sisters around the world to help
Pope Francis provide essential relief to people in need.
Your generosity is an act of solidarity with the universal
Church, answering the call to be a witness of charity.
May God bless you.
Congratulations to Boy Scout
Thomas F. Arsenault
of our own Troop 155, sponsored by St. Richard Parish.
Thomas achieved the rank of Eagle Scout this past week, and
celebrated his Eagle Scout Court of Honor here at St. Richard
parish hall.
Only one out of every one hundred Scouts achieve this great
Scout Honor. We as a parish congratulate you and pray for
your continued success in achieving life goals and leadership
skills in all you do.
We congratulate his parents as Bob and Cindy Arsenault, for
their dedication and parental encouragement for their son.

John Costello Scholarship
Awards
Congratulations to our fourteen scholarship winners this
year for the golf tournament scholarship given every year to
parishioners who actively participate in church and we are
moving to the next level of their education experience.
This year we are proud to announce that we as a Parish are
awarding over FOURTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS in
scholarship to our students. This is an amazing feat for our
parish to accomplish on behalf of our youth, and we should
be most proud of this fact.
On behalf of our whole parish, I congratulate each of you,
our students winners, on your achievements thus far and pray
you continue your success in higher education. I also want to
congratulate all of the adults in our parish who worked so
hard to develop the funding for these scholarships, and the
parish as a whole for your wonderful support. This is an
amazing accomplishment for our parish, and I am personally
most impressed and pleased for all of you.
God Bless,
Fr. Bruce

NEVER BEEN BAPTIZED?
Baptized Catholic and never received any other sacraments?
Looking for a relationship with Christ Jesus?
Interested in entering the Catholic faith?
The Reflections from those whose journey into the Catholic
faith began at Easter time:
“I felt overwhelmed by the community’s support. I questioned
if I was worthy of all the attention, but I realized how much the
RCIA process helped me grow spiritually.”
“The incredible experience of receiving Communion after 23
years. May it always be that way for me and not become just a
habit.”
“What struck me the most was the incredible sense of sharing
and support I had.”
“I have learned much – mostly about myself and feel much
more connected to my faith and Christianity than ever before in
my life. I have gained so much strength from it.”
“Having received many sacraments in a short period of time,
I experienced a wide range of emotions.”
“Having received these sacraments just prior to my wedding
made the nuptial mass an even richer experience.”
The community of St. Richard Parish would like to extend
an invitation to you. Come and see what the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is all about!
We can meet at your convenience.

Where Faith and Knowledge Meet to Give a Sound
Foundation for Life-Long Learning.
14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus travels to His hometown and He is greeted with
skepticism and doubt. He preaches to them and, despite what
they have heard and the things they have witnessed, they do
not accept Him. Their lack of faith so distressed Him that He
could not work a miracle there, except for a few cures. Their
closed minds and hearts blocked the flow of grace and
nothing happened.
All too often in the church today, priests, deacons and
religious are greeted with skepticism and doubt. In their own
towns and parishes, their ministry and preaching is greeted
with gossip and indifference. The lack of appreciation is a
heavy burden that is added to the overwhelming work of
ministering to others, especially in times of great need. As a
community of faith, we need to honor the work of those who
serve, for their task is neither easy nor light. First, pray for
them that they may have the strength and courage to serve and
lead. They too are clay vessels of God’s grace. Second, tell
them you appreciate them and their work. Offer positive
support for a homily well done, a special visit to the sick, or
ministry at times of funerals, weddings and sacraments. Your
gifts of time, talent and treasure go a long way to boost the
morale and confidence of those who serve us. It lets them
know concretely that they too are part of the community and
not just a functionary in times of need. Be supportive, be
helpful, and be generous. It helps God’s grace to flow!

COMMITMENT
TO PARISH LIFE PROGRAM
The Commitment to Parish Life Program is a method by
which our parishioners are invited to make their financial
commitment to our parish here at St. Richard. It offers you
the opportunity to make your commitment to the parish on an
annual, semi-annual, quarterly or monthly basis. No longer
will you need to remember to bring your donation and/or your
envelopes to drop in the basket each week. The process also
allows you to better plan for your donation to the parish based
on the interval you select. The Commitment to Parish Life
Program has been extremely beneficial to the parish in that, it
allows the parish to better budget for the operating expenses
associated with the many ministries and activities that take
place here at St. Richard. The parish continues to be a viable
and active parish due to your financial commitment and to
your participation in this very important program. Good
stewardship of your generous donation is our first priority.
If you are not currently participating in the Commitment to
Parish Life Program, but wish to do so, please contact the
parish at 978-774-7575 and ask that an enrollment packet be
sent to you. Once completed, please drop in the collection
basket at Mass or you may mail it directly to the parish.
Thank you for your consideration.
Deacon Ed Elibero
Our Deacon, Ed Elibero, has been
ministering here at St. Richard Parish
for the last seven years, primarily in
charge of the baptismal ministry.
This summer he will be taking a new assignment in
another parish after his long term here at St. Richard.
We are Most grateful for his service, kindness and
leadership which he has so generously shared with all of
us in our community, and we wish him the very best in
his new assignment.
God Bless him in his new ventures for the Lord.
