And Jesus said to them, “Thus it is written that the

Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third

day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins,

would be preached in his name to all the nations, begin-

ning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these

things.”

In this weekend’s Gospel, Jesus again appears to the

disciples gathered in the upper room, and he interprets

the Scriptures so that the disciples better understand the

events of Holy Week. Jesus does this to prepare the dis-

ciples to be witnesses to all the nations, just like Peter in

the first reading. Similarly, after RCIA candidates are

received into the Church at the Easter Vigil, they begin a

period called Mystagogia, which is a time of reflection

on the Easter mysteries and sacraments of initiation. In

this Easter Season, may we reflect on the price of our

redemption and, in gratitude, become better witnesses to

Jesus Christ!

Diocesan Services Appeal (DSA): Our annual DSA

goal for 2017 was included in the Witness to Hope cam-

paign, but now the DSA returns for 2018 and beyond.

Please prayerfully consider supporting the DSA as it

contains many projects such as seminary education that

no one parish could provide. [And by the way, our sum-

mer intern—seminarian Michael Cassar—will be join-

ing us in May!] So thank you for being generous with

the mission of the diocese. Our parish goals can be

reached if each one of us shares a portion of the many

blessings God has bestowed upon us. God bless you!

Loving and gracious God, we praise you and we thank you

for the bountiful gifts that you have bestowed upon us. Instill

in us the courage to “Go and Announce the Gospel of the

Lord.” Help us to understand that we are called to disciple-

ship, to grow actively in faith and to go and share the good

news with the world. Please bless our unified efforts and

help us to bring Christ’s love to all we encounter. Give us

the grace to be generous in our support of the Diocesan Ser-

vices Appeal, so that we may faithfully participate as mis-

sionary disciples in the work of Your Holy Church. Amen.

St. Robert Bellarmine welcomes

new members at the Easter Vigil!

Two new members celebrated the sacraments of Christian Initiation and were welcomed into the Catholic Church at the glorious Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. Accompanied by sponsors, family and friends, Shelby Kneuss and Michaela Waitman made professions of faith followed by Confirmation and First Eucharist. Please extend every welcome to our newly-initiated members and remember them in prayer in the months ahead as they more deeply share in our Catholic way of life. Congratulations ladies! Alleluia!
