This week, we celebrated the Cardinals’ Opening Day and the Blues’ quest for the cup. I enjoyed seeing all the students show their spirit for our hometown teams. Wednesday, our fourth graders went to Jefferson City to visit the Capitol. Thursday, our fifth and sixth graders went to enjoy the theater production, The Little Mermaid at Cor Jesu. The month of March was National Reading Month. We encouraged our students to participate in a challenge to see which homeroom could read the most. Our students did a wonderful job. Our winner for grades K-2 was first grade with 99 hours. Our winner for grades 3-5 was Ms. Venturella’s 5-2 class with 183 hours. CRE NEWSStudents Living Service Last week I asked two 7th graders to serve a Memorial Mass. Later that day, I was given a payment for each of the servers. When I presented the “payment” to the one server he said, “Mrs. Ponder, I don’t want the money. I did it as my service to the Parish.” The other student turned to me and had the same response. They both agreed that I give the payment to the Rice Bowl collection. Now that is living the life of Christ. They not only gave of their time for someone’s Mass but also gave up material goods. I was so touched and impressed with these two boys. May these boys continue to live out this mission in life - serving others…

Our 7th graders attended their Confirmation retreat and were inspired by Paul Masek and his REAP team. They focused on God in our everyday life and how to be true followers of Christ and to take off our “masks”. Ask a 7th graders what they learned…We thank God for this wonderful day.

We also want to thank Mrs. Camden and Mrs Sievers for organizing all the food and beverages for snacks during the day and thank you to the families for donating these items. Everyone enjoyed the snacks.

Our Student Council will be going to 5th, 6th and 7th grade classes encouraging participation in Student Council. Elections will be held the first week of May.

This Sunday, April 17, at the 11:00 AM Mass, we are asking our 8th graders to participate as readers, etc. This is a privilege and an opportunity to serve the Parish.

This Sunday is called Good Shepherd Sunday. A shepherd is a protector. “The Good Shepherd will always protect us, but it is our job to stay as close to him as possible. How do I stay close to Jesus so I will hear his voice when he wants to led me away from danger?”

Jesus, Good Shepherd, protect me from the things that will harm me most,

the things that draw me away from you.

Enjoy each day!Mary Jo Ponder

CAMP GONZAGA 11015 Mueller Road St. Louis, MO 63123 -- 314-842-3848 ext. 300

TUESDAY, MAY 31–THURSDAY, AUGUST 11, 2016 Welcome to “Simon Says” Camp Gonzaga! We are very anxious to get started with our summer camp. The Staff has planned many fun-filled activities for the session. We look forward to entertaining your child, keeping them busy and happy in a safe atmosphere! The attached information needs to be read over carefully (there are changes from last year’s camp), and all paperwork needs to be completed and fees need to be paid by Friday, April 22. All forms are located on the web-site www.simonsaysecc.com . You are required to attend an Orientation on the Summer Program on Thursday, May 12, 7:00 p.m. in the Latchkey Room.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLACE: The Latchkey Room and the connected Dominican Room 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. The front entrance to school is not to be used. The program is designed for children ages 6-12. TUITION: The program is $36 a day per child. You need to register for a minimum of two days a week. The center will be closed Monday July 4 and Friday August 12, for staff workday. There is absolutely no prorating for any reason. We are honoring one week of vacation time. Whatever days you sign your child up for, you are responsible to pay, from your start date to your end date in FULL WEEKS. If you choose to pull out before your stop date, you are required to pay the fees up through that date. These policies have to be enforced for organizational reasons and for the safety of your children.

PAYMENT POLICY: We have changed our payment policy. We are now using a program called Tuition Express. There are three different options to choose from for payment. Paperwork is attached.

• Credit Card: Please note that credit card payments will be initiated on the 5th of each month and an additional 3% will be charged to your account for a processing fee. Your credit card will be charged for the full month’s tuition on this date.

• Checking account: Payments that are taken from checking accounts will have a couple of options to choose from. Payments can be taken out in one lump sum on the 5th or the 15th of the month.

• Checking account: The other option is for ½ of your tuition to be taken out on the 5th and the other half on the 15th. Please make sure you mark the appropriate box so that we can process your information correctly.

Once this decision has been made, it will continue on that date each month.
