TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 21, 2020

Dear parishioners,

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, grandfathers,

stepfathers, foster-fathers and Godfathers. Thank

you for your example and for all that you do! I

hope you have a great day Father’s Day!

As we are sliding into summer, we are continuing

with the Phase I process with our parish. We are

still adhering to the 25% of capacity and continu-

ing with the three Masses (6 pm Saturday and Sun-

day and 10:30 am Sunday). We also are continuing with having the

Masses being viewed live on the Facebook page!

Just as a reminder: 1) Confessions are open on Saturday and Sunday from 5 to

5:30 pm. Confessions on Wednesday after the 5:15 Mass will resume this Wednesday, June 24th! 2) The Adoration chapel is

open! We are limiting it to two people at a time. There are cleaning supplies available and thank you for wiping down the

chairs and kneelers when finished! You need a key card to open the door. If you would like one or lost one, please don’t

hesitate to call the office. We would be happy to help! 3) Small groups are still on hold during this phase I period. This is per

the order of the Diocese. The church is only open for Mass and Confessions. When this changes, we will let you know!

I did need to give you an update regarding the FOCUS missionary program. The FOCUS missionary program has been at St.

Tom’s for the past three years. I have appreciated the commitment of the young men and women who have volunteered

two years of more of their life in service of their church. I do appreciate the enthusiasm they bring to their faith! However,

after consulting with Bishop Bradley, I have decided not to have the FOCUS missionary program return for the Fall Semester.

There are various factors for the decision. Certainly, I had to look at the financial component. The FOCUS program is priced

at $60,000/year. This was going to increase to $68,000/year. The cost has been an enduring problem for both our parish

and our diocese. During this pandemic it just was not a feasible option. There were other considerations as well, including

having a program that can meet the needs of our students and help build up parish community. I believe that there are

other programs/movements available that can help meet this goal and be more cost effective. The bishop agreed. This in

no way should reflect on the FOCUS missionaries. They have helped in many ways to our student population that are intan-

gible, they can’t be measured. The seeds they have planted this last three years will produce fruit which I will not be aware

of. For this I am very thankful and grateful. I certainly with Sam and Libby, Jessica and Kip – this year’s missionaries well in

their next assignment. We are looking actively at other groups, programs that can help with the student ministry team. Be-

fore going forward with this, we need input from Lisa LeVasseur – the Campus Ministry leader and from our Student Ministry

Team. More to come in the weeks following! Thank you again for all your work these past three years to the FOCUS mission-

ary program.

I hope you have a great week. Please take care. Please continue to send us information about Good News, birthdays and

anniversaries. God bless you all.

Peace,
