Adoration & Confession

March 23, 6:30-8pm

Wednesday evening the

Catholic Community of Billerica will have Ado-ration and Confession available at all three par-ishes. Please join us as we spend time with Jesus in the Eucharist this Len-ten Season. We need at least two people to sign up for each half-hour block. Please consider signing up on the sheets at either church entrance if you plan to at-tend.

The Weeping Tree March 21 ~ 7-7:45pm ~ St. Andrew Church

We will be praying this Lenten Service on Mon-day. The Weeping Tree is a prayer, written by Jo-seph M. Martin, that uses beloved hymns, newly

composed music, thoughtful narration, and items that would have been a part of the Passion event to create a touching portrait of the Crucifixion. This

unique prayer service is approximately 35 minutes long and features a “weeping tree” cross hand-carved by one of our own parishioners.

Year of Mercy ~ Films of Faith In honor of the Pope Francis' dedi-cation of this year to God's mercy,

Thursday, March 31 at 6:45 pm we

will gather to share a film or docu-

mentary on the Faith and enjoy some fellowship at St. Theresa Hall.

Please join us and consider bringing a snack to share at the break.

ACTS Retreat for Women April 21-24

St John the Evangelist Parish of the Chelmsford Catholic Collaborative is hosting an ACTS Retreat in April and invites women from the Catholic Community of Billerica to join them in this week-end of prayer, liturgy and reflection. ACTS (Adoration, Community, Theology, Service) is a 3-day retreat led by lay women from the area. ACTS Retreats have been identified by bishops and other Church leaders as the “...most important move-ment in the Catholic Church today.”

Women of our Billerica Catholic Community are urged to consider this invitation as an opportunity to grow in faith and understanding. Say “yes” by

completing the ACTS Invitation/Application available at the entrance to our churches. You can get more details on this retreat by contacting those listed on the application.

Congratulations to the families of Mikayla

Ashton Aiello, Aria Bree Flint, and Quinn Louise Gotts who were baptized here last week-

end. Welcome, new members of our church com-

munity!

You are Invited to Host the Elijah Chalice Vocations ~ Everybody’s Business

Praying for vocations is the most powerful way to support vocations to the priesthood and consecrat-ed life in the Archdiocese of Boston. The Elijah

Chalice provides a focal point for this prayer in your own home.

Each week at Mass, the celebrant will use the Elijah Chalice for the Precious Blood. A family, indi-

vidual or couple will be called for-ward to receive a blessing and then take the Chalice home, plac-

ing it in an area of prominence. Each day during prayer time, they

will pray for an increase in voca-tions. Suggested prayers will be included. The

next Sunday, they will return the Elijah Chalice, for the next host.

Let us give thanks for those men who have become

our priests. Their dedication and willingness to answer God’s call brings us closer to God in so

many ways, especially through the Eucharist. If you would be interested in hosting the Elijah Chal-

ice or if you have questions, please contact:

Discernment ~ St. Andrew Dinner Young men in high school are invited to participate in an informal evening of dis-cernment with Cardinal

Sean O’Malley at St. John Seminary on April 6 from 6-8 pm. The evening will consist of: Evening Prayer, dinner, vocation wit-ness stories, and conversation with seminarians. Parents are welcome to join their sons on this trip. If you are interested, please contact Fr. Marty at 978-663-8816 x23.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Vincentians often hear, “I wish I could pay you back,” from those they visit. All of us recognize

the difference between a loan and a gift. In this year of mercy, we are reminded that all gifts from God are given unconditionally. The desire to give to one another comes from wanting to imitate Him.

Our recipients seek to pay back by paying forward. The privilege of assisting others on behalf of all of you, our benefactors, is a gift all Vincentians cherish. We would like to extend an invitation to any-

one interested in service with the St. Vincent de

Paul Society. Please contact Sharon at 978-758-0067 if you are interested in becoming a member.

Also, please remember that our food drive is now

on the first weekend of every month.

The Benefactor Society

Members of the St. Theresa Parish Benefactor So-ciety are enrolled into the daily prayer of our par-

ish community for as long as the grace of God is necessary. All members share in a special Mass

each month. This month’s members are:

Linda Ceruolo Avrun Povitz

Robert Metropolis Gladys Roche Margaret Pais

Sally Pini William Sullivan, Jr.

Disciples in Mission

We know these readings well. We know how the story ends. But, shame on us if we do not listen and ponder as if hearing for the first time.

… at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Do your words confess

that Jesus is Lord? Are you willing and ready to share His remarkable love for us with others? For this task, the Lord

will give us well-trained tongues, that we might know how to spread to the weary a word that will rouse them. Invite someone to join you next week for Easter Mass.

Novena to The Divine Mercy

The following Chaplet may be prayed as a novena each day on your rosary beads from Good Friday through Divine Mercy Sunday, April 3. When praying as a Novena, begin with the following prayer:

Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Com-

passionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love let these tepid souls, who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow on them the gift of holy love for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compas-

sionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them too, glorify the abyss of your mercy. Amen.

Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Open with: 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary, & the Apostles’ Creed.

On the large bead before each decade: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly Beloved

Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the 10 small beads of each decade: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Concluding Doxology: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, Have mercy on us and on the whole world. (3X)

Meet Fr. Tom—Bringing Christ to All AgesWhen Fr. Tom Macdonald walks through the streets of Dorchester, people don’t see just a young friendly face. They see a priest.

It’s been three years since Fr. Tom was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston. Yet in that short time, he has become a trusted and respected friend, neighbor, and priest at the St. Ann/St. Brendan parish collaborative. “Many of the good people in these close-knit communities have seen so much more of life than I have,” says Fr. Tom, “but it’s their faith in the priesthood, their faith in the Church, and their faith in Christ that enables them to see Christ in me. It is a beautiful gift that I feel blessed to receive new again each day.”

To see Fr. Tom’s story, visit clergyfunds.org.

Our priests are there for us and our families without question or hesitation. Please show your gratitude and consider making a generous gift to your parish collection this Easter.

Thank you for helping to ensure a continuum of care and quality of life for all our active and senior priests.
