On Monday, we celebrate Remembrance Day,

a day not only to remember war but to pray for peace.

Our suggestion for this week is Pius XII: Under the

Roman Sky. This feature film chronicles the role of the

Pope and Church in saving thousands of Jewish

lives. Our parish access code is TBQYW9.

“Children of the resurrection are children of God.”

It is November, the month of All Saints’, All Souls’ and Remembrance Day. It is a month of thinking about and praying for the

dead. As we near the end of the liturgical year, the readings turn toward end of times. Today’s readings concern the

Resurrection.

In the Gospel, the Sadducees, who do not believe in resurrection, are trying to trap Jesus in the riddle about seven brothers and

their widow. Jesus provides instruction about life after death; it will be radically different than life on earth.

Those who rise with Christ “are like Angels and are sons and daughters of God, being children of the resurrection.” In the

resurrection, nobody “gets the woman,” because women and men will know the freedom of being children of God.

Please note: November 11th is Remembrance Day

and the office will be closed.

Archdiocesan Camps Renewal Project: Update 2

Planning for the redevelopment of the two archdiocesan

camps has entered a new phase with the Archbishop’s

approval of a 10-year business plan for the renewal project

and resumption of operations at Our Lady of Victory Camp

for the 2020 camping season.

Archbishop Smith reiterated his commitment to OLVC and

Camp Encounter at the first annual Archbishop’s Dinner on

October 4, noting that they have played life-shaping and

life-changing roles in the lives of many of the young people

who have attended the camps. On October 30, the Camps

Renewal Committee presented His Grace and archdiocesan

leaders with a concrete plan for moving forward. Highlights

include:

Programming will resume at OLVC in the

summer of 2020; some spring and fall

camping may also be offered. Registrations

will open in January 2020. Initial

improvements to OLVC include a new

family camping area, new maintenance and

storage building, and new wash facility.

At Camp Encounter, the plan aims to

introduce a broader audience to the joys of

camping in a Catholic environment. This

will require removal of aging structures

and development of tent and RV sites for families or parish/

school groups, along with new wash facilities. We anticipate

reopening Camp Encounter in 2022.

To read the complete update letter see:

The Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton website.

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada

calls its members to grow in faith, and to

witness to the love of God through ministry

and service.

The next general council meeting will be

November 19th at 7pm in

Our Lady of the Rosary Room.

We will celebrate our sisters that have gone before us at a

Memorial Celebration.

Celebrating Anniversaries:

As requested by Pope Francis, we celebrate the

commitment to Marriage by celebrating

Vern & Lila Biever’s 67th Wedding Anniversary

May God bless you and deepen your love for each other.

SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL –

Roger Plouffe, a parishioner from St. Thomas More who is

our contact in Fort Good Hope, for the North of 60

Program would like to thank everyone who made

it possible to send a Sea-can to the community last

spring. It was filled with food, clothing, and other supplies.

The sea-can will stay there and be used for storage.

Thank you to the Knights of Columbus, the CWL and all of

our parishioners who donated or volunteered in any way. Of

note, members from our Youth Group painted a beautiful

mural on one side, which will be blessed by the community

on Dec 9th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This

mural has received many comments and people

are especially impressed when they find out who the painters

are. They are recruiting local artists to paint the other side

this spring. Many thanks to Lou Normand who is the

coordinator for North of 60 for St. Thomas More Parish.
