Reflecting on the Word
Today’s Gospel, warning against dividing our hearts be-tween God and worldly goods, begins with the image of God as “master.” There is a deep truth contained in this image, for we are called to serve God, carrying out the divine will and seeking the Kingdom. The things Jesus mentions in this passage are fundamen-tal human needs and he in no way implies that these are not important. Rather, he calls into question the anxiety and worry that we have about these things. While God is the master whom we ought to serve, God does not treat us as slaves to be used up and cast aside. Rather, in a surprising reversal of the normal master-servant relationship, God constantly seeks our good and provides us with what we need to flourish. Faith in God does not remove practical concerns. But it can remove the worry and anxiety over these things that some-times dominate our lives and keeps us from seeking above all God’s kingdom of righteousness. - from “Living the Word”

From the Pastor’s Desk - AAA 2014 Update Dear Parishioners, As you know well, we have been promoting the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal the whole month of February. Here is the list of those who have donated to AAA so far. We have not made our goal of $49,200 yet. So we need parishioners, School & Faith Formation families, & organizations such as Men’s Club, Women’s Guild, Legion of Mary, BLD, etc. to join hands to-gether and make this a success. Do send in your donations quickly.
In gratitude to those who have donated and in anticipation of those who are yet to donate,
