28th Sunday of Ordinary Time

It may have been cloudy and a tad chilly last Sunday, but the food and fellowship at the Turkey & Ham Dinner last Sunday was sunny and warm! Awesome day! Thanks to the committee for all of your hard work. Thanks to all who, in any way, helped to make the day a success: set up, clean up, food preparers, dessert makers, shift workers, outside workers. Thanks to all for your time and talents used for the good of our parish. God bless you all!

This weekend is the K of C's Tootsie Roll Drive for Children with Disabilities. Our council will be collecting in Wash-ington at JC Penney and at the BP Gas Station . We will also be collecting after the masses. The Knights of Columbus is also starting up the “Baby Bottle Campaign” (also called a "Baby Bottle Boomerang") this weekend. This is a drive to collect funds to support culture of life initiatives at the local level. In this program, empty baby bottles are distributed to individuals or families to deposit their loose change, checks, or paper money, and the filled bottles are returned after a set period of time, such as a few days or several weeks. Please return your bottles the weekend of November 21 (weekend before Thanksgiving). Finally, our local chapter of Missouri Right to Life is having our 5th Annual ECAMRL Pro-Life Potluck Dinner Ban-quet on Thursday Oct 15th at 6:30 in the lower level of the Washington K of C Hall. Our featured speaker is Fr, John Mayo. The purpose of this banquet is to celebrate and show respect for life at all stages. This is not a fundraiser. There will be no appeals for money during the evening. The doors will be open at 6 pm and the evening will start with din-ner at 6:30 pm. The banquet will be held in the lower level of the KC Hall at 1121 Columbus Dr. in Washington, MO. For more info, please contact Dan Schwartz 636-228-4138.

The Friends of Priests Prayer Campaign for all Priests, Deacons, Seminarians, and Consecrated Reli-gious will begin on Sunday, October 18, 2015 and end on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

All parishioners are invited to sign a pledge to pray ten Hail Marys each day from October 18 to De-cember 8. The completed, returned pledge sheets will be presented in book form at the 5 pm Mass on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Cathedral Basilica. All are welcome to attend this Mass.

Thanks to all who came and participated in Meeting #2 for St. Vincent Parish Viability Study Report. Immaculate Conception second meeting is this Wednesday, October 14 at 6:30pm in the cafeteria.

Dynamic Catholic, Alive! – Partakers of the Divine Nature

Have you read Partakers of the Divine Nature, Archbishop Carlson’s pastoral letter on spiritual for-mation? We have encouraged parishes to study it this Fall. It works great for small groups, as there are reflections after each of the main sections. You can be purchase the letter from the Office of Com-munications or download it for free on the Archdioc-esan website. “We are meant to know God, not simply to know about Him” (Archbishop Carlson).

28th Sunday of Ordinary Time

October 11, 2015 28th Sunday of Ordinary Time

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:25)

Jesus uses tough language that we may not want to hear. But, we are ALL called to be generous with ALL our gifts. Not just the ones we pick and choose, but all our gifts: our time in pray-er to God, our talent in participating in parish ministries and our treasure supporting our local parish and other charities.
