Staff News We were delighted to hear that Mrs Kate Smith gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Monday 8 May.
She has named him Wilfred (Wilf) Richard and both Mum and baby are doing well and report that life is certainly busier in the Smith household with the arrival of baby Wilf.
We were also delighted to hear the news that Mrs Joella Long, one of our Teaching Assistants, has become engaged to her partner David. We are all looking forward to hearing her future wedding plans.
The stork has been flying over Corsham Primary again - Mrs Rachel Taylor and Mrs Nicola Tuplin are expecting their first babies and Mrs Melissa Ozteoman is expecting her second child. Many
congratulations to all three, we were all very pleased to hear their news.
Mrs Abi Doe has decided that, having worked at Corsham Primary since September 2001 and that now her two daughters are older, it is time for her to seek a new challenge and further her career. She has
successfully secured an exciting new position at Corsham Regis Primary School and we wish Abi all the best for the future. We know you will want to join with us in thanking her for everything she has done; her
dedication and hard work has made a real difference to many children's lives.
Miss Kate Allison and her partner have decided that they want to live closer to his place of work and she has therefore secured a teaching position in a school in Swindon. Kate will be leaving at the end of the
summer term and we will be sorry to say goodbye to her but want to thank her for stepping in to cover Mrs Pegrum’s maternity leave and wish her all the best in her new job and house move.
Miss Emily Griffin will also be leaving us at the end of the summer term. Emily has decided that commuting to and from Bristol every day is proving too much and wants to work closer to home. She has to get up
incredibly early to miss the traffic in the morning and is often caught up in long queues on the way home. We know that this has been a difficult decision for Emily and she will be missed by both staff and children.
Like Miss Griffin, Miss Chloe Allen has come to the conclusion that travelling to Cosham every day from Bristol is taking too long and that it is increasingly difficult to avoid the traffic jams. Chloe has secured a
teaching position closer to home and we will be saying goodbye to her at the end of the summer term. We have enjoyed getting to know Chloe this past year and know she will do a fantastic job in her new school.
Mrs Nicola Ryan has decided not to return to work following her maternity leave. With two young children at home Nicola has decided that she wants to stay at home for the foreseeable future. We all miss Nicola
and want to thank her for everything she has done to make the children’s time at Corsham Primary a happy one.
After 13+ years Ms Sara McKenzie has decided she wants a new challenge and will be leaving our Teaching Assistant team at the end of the summer term. Sara is planning to set up her own dog walking/
caring business. We will miss Sara very much; she is a very caring person who has supported many children over the years. We know Sara will make a real success of her new venture and we wish her all
the luck in the world. As the saying goes ‘never work with children and animals’ and Sara will have worked with both!
Following recent interviews we have appointed Miss Ellie Winward and Miss Sorcha Rudgely. Both ladies are full of enthusiasm and can’t wait to bring their love of teaching to Corsham Primary School. Ellie has recently been teaching in Wales and Sorcha in Salisbury. We wish Ellie and Sorcha all the very best as
they join our teaching team.

Craze of the Moment—Fidget Spinners Please ensure that toys and other items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Governors’ Awards
These awards were presented to the school from former Governors and
families of the school. They are given to Year 6 children who have been
nominated by their teachers for super effort in Literacy, Numeracy and P.E.
Huge congratulations to:
Clarice J for Literacy
Megan W for Numeracy
Caitlin B for P.E.
Dogs on School Site
Please remember that dogs are not allowed on the school grounds at any time. They can be tied up on the entrance road whilst dropping off and collecting your children.
Code of Dress
Parents and carers, please remember that the
only jewellery allowed is small stud earring in
each ear and a single chain with a religious
symbol.
No other parts of the body should be pierced.
Extremes of dress, fashion, and hairstyles e.g.
shaven heads or tramlines, are not allowed.
Dyed hair must only be in a natural colour and
for all the hair, not just a part, unless of course
children are taking part in an agreed Mufti Day.
CORSHAM PRIMARY—FACEBOOK GUIDANCE
In line with police governance, we are keen that no children who attend Corsham Primary have a Facebook account.
Children under the age of 13 are not legally allowed to log on. As a school, we do
spend time sorting out issues that arise out of Facebook issues and would ask parents
and carers to please ensure that child/ren do not use this method of
communication.

DON’T FORGET...
CHILDREN’S CHOICE HOME LEARNING
If your child would like more home learning we would like to remind you of our home
learning scheme, ‘Children’s Choice’. This initiative runs alongside our current Home
Learning policy, in which children have home learning set regularly, aimed at
consolidating learning in class (see our policy for details).
Children from Year 2 upwards can choose extra home learning activities from the
special “Children’s Choice” box in their classroom. You will be able to recognise it
because it has a special stamp on the activity sheets. These activities will be
appropriate to your child’s year group but may not necessarily link with the learning in
class during the week or with the home learning that has been set. Children’s Choice
home learning should be marked at home by parents/carers or other family members
and can be returned to school to share with others in their class.
Medicines in School
School staff are not able to give non-prescribed or prescribed
medicine to pupils with short term ailments.
If pupils need non-prescribed medicine or prescribed medicine for short
term ailments during the school day, parents/carers will need to come in
and administer the medication themselves or nominate someone to do
so on their behalf.
School staff can only administer prescribed medication to a pupil if it is for
a life-long condition. In these circumstances, an Individual Health Care
Plan is drawn up in consultation with the school nurse, the school and the
parents/carers.
Request from Snapdragons’
Nursery team of wraparound
care staff:
Please remember if you have made
different arrangements for any reason,
to let staff at Snapdragons know what
your child is doing after school,
especially if involved in sports clubs
of if you are picking up.

MORE SPORTS NEWS
Orienteering On Thursday 5 May, 12 students from Corsham Primary were selected to compete in
an orienteering event held at The Corsham School.
We all worked really well as a team and our sports teacher, Miss Perry, who
supported us and helped us with tactics. We had an amazing time; it was a great
adventure and we also came in 2nd place in the relay race. We really enjoyed every
minute of it.

Lacrosse
Everyone had a fantastic time during a
lacrosse tournament at the end of last
term. Pound Pill won 2 games and
scored some fantastic goals.
Broadwood lost their first game and
then managed to win every game after
this which resulted in them winning the
whole tournament! We are the first
school other than Colerne to win the
tournament since it started 5 years ago.
A great achievement—congratulations
to everyone who took part.
