Description: The student scholarship winner is awarded $1,500 to a Trade and Industrial Education
(T&I) student who is accepted to a technical school, 2- or 4-year college, or other post-secondary
educational institution. The award of this scholarship will be made to the institution where the student
is to be enrolled to defer tuition costs and fees. The student must inform the Ruritan Club the name of
the institution they will attend, the financial office address, and his/her student identification number.
General Requirements:
1. The applicant must be enrolled in a Stafford County Public School’s Trade and Industrial (T&I)
Education program, such as Automotive Service, Auto Body Repair, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary
Arts, Drafting, Electricity, Masonry, Small Engine Repair, Graphic Imaging Technology, Video Production,
etc.
2. Applicants applying for the educational scholarship must be a graduating junior or senior.
3. The applicant must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average (GPA) through the first semester of the
current school year.
4. Applicants must have completed or be completing at least 2 years in a Trade & Industrial Education
program.
5. Applicants must be active and hold membership in their career & technical student organization.
6. Applicants must submit the completed application form provided.
7. Applicants must attach a resume with a 10 point minimum font size.
8. Applicants must attach a 1 page (maximum) career goal statement of how his/her T&I classes have
impacted their decision to pursue further technical education.
9. The completed application form is due by March 25, 2020, to your school Counseling Center
Scholarship Coordinator. Applications must be typewritten. All documents must be attached and in
order as follows:
1. Completed application 3. Career goal statement
2. Resume 4. High school transcript
Evaluation & Selection:
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated and selected by a team consisting of 3 or more Trade &
Industrial Education teachers who are not currently instructors of the applicant. The team may be
expanded to include other departmental teachers, an assistant principal, and/or a guidance counselor
as members.
