Stage 2 Term 2 Week 2 Learning Plan This week your Learning plan for Week 2, it has been set out differently. All your English and Maths tasks for the week are together. English: Everyday day you must complete a Reading Eggspress task. English/ modelled reading you need to complete from Monday to Thursday. Spelling- your teacher will let you know what tasks to complete and when to complete them. Sentence writing- one sentence per day. Grammar- one task per week. Vocabulary – you may complete one or two parts per day or select one day to complete the task. Handwriting – one task per week. Writing- one task per day. Feedback. On the learning plan your teacher has highlighted which task(s) need to be uploaded to Seesaw. Written feedback will be given to the tasks your teacher has asked you to upload. Stage 2 Term 2 Week 2 Learning Plan

This week your Learning plan for Week 2, it has been set out differently. All your English and Maths tasks for the

week are together.

English:

Everyday day you must complete a Reading Eggspress task.

English: Monday

This week we are going to focus on the book-

The Way Home for Wolf

LI: I can use evidence from a text and my own experiences to make a prediction.

Look at the front cover.

Think- what is this story going to be about?

What is happening in this picture?

Finish this sentence. You may be able to write 3 or 4 sentences predicting what about the story is about.

Draw a table in your book.

Inside the squares predict words that may be in the text. No words like is, the, a, was etc

Try to predict words such as forest, hunt, lost.

On your page write a sentence about your prediction.

My prediction was correct or incorrect because the story was about……….

Finish this sentence.

English: Tuesday

The Way Home for Wolf

LI: I am learning to monitor my understanding of the text by adjusting my reading speed to fit the difficulty of the text and

"fixing" any comprehension problems I have.

Challenging vocabulary- Shimmering, Throng, Advised, Flanks, Strong-willed, Breathless, Strayed, Holler, Hoarse, Tundra,

Majestical, Brow Proclaimed, Waftings, Pursuit. When you are listening to the story, highlight or tick the words you

understand.

While listening to the story fill out the table. Your teacher will send you a copy of the table.

When you have finished discuss with a parent/ caregiver/teacher the parts you are confused about. Tick the parts of the text

you are no longer confused about. Upload your work to Seesaw

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: This Is the Best Part! Directions: Draw a picture of your favourite part of the story. Then write why you

chose that part as your favourite.

English: Wednesday

The Way Home for Wolf

LI: I am learning to create an image in my mind while reading that reflects the characters, events, topics or information in

the text.

Writers often use language to appeal to our senses (sight, sound, smell, touch and taste). This is called ‘sensory language’.

Sensory language helps us to picture in our minds what is happening in the text.

Read the text below then create an artistic representation of the text. You may use textas, crayons, coloured pencils or paint

to draw your picture. Upload your picture to Seesaw.

As a rainbow of lights flickered in the night,

Dusting diamonds of ice in a desert of white,

The wild whipping wind, it whistled its tune,

To a howling of wolves and a shimmering moon.

LI: To set up a fair test to test the strengths of different plastic bags.

Plastic bags are often given away by retailers for consumers (shoppers) to put their shopping in. All plastic bags are not

made equal, or are they?

We are going to test whether different plastic bags have different strengths.
