    Thesocalledconditioningofthetubesispointlessinmyopinion.Evenifitisadielectriccoatingitcomesoffbytouchingit...Itisnotworththetimenortheeffort.

    Dielectriccoatingscanbepurchasedfrommanysources.Itisimportantwhenchoosingadielectrictogetonewhichhasahighdielectricconstantandahighdielectricstrength.Findaliquidkindthatyoucaneitherdipyourtubesinorsprayiton.Letitdry,takeameasurementofboththecapcitanceandtheresistanceacrosstheplateswithwater(anykind).Youcanusethattocalaculatethedissipationfactor.Andtheresistance(shouldbeintheMegaOhmrange)canbeusedtocalculatetheleakagecurrent(currentflowingthroughwater).

    Ahighdielectricconstantmaterialisneededbecauseitallowsthemostvoltagetobeinducedthroughthedielectricduetopolarization.

    Idon'tthinktheelectricfielddistributionisgoingtobeaproblem.JustforexamplesaywecoatthetubeswithadielectricwhichHasadielectricconstantof5andweusetapwaterwithadielectricconstantof60.Wecouldusebasicmathtocalculatethetotalpercentageofeachdielectricandusethattocalculatethevoltageeachonewouldhave.

    Allthatthismeansisthelowerthedielectricconstantofthedielectriccoatingthehigherthevoltagewillneedtobetogetthedesiredeffect.WithalowdielectricconstantwehavelesspolarizationwhichmeansonlypartofthevoltagewillbeappliedtothewaterTherestofthevoltageisheldbackbecauseofthepoorpolarization(lowdielectricconstant).

    ThismeansreplicationcanstillbesuccessfulwithalowdielectricConstantcoating,theappliedvoltagewilljusthavetobehigher.
