Standard V. The Master Technology Teacher facilitates appropriate, research-based technology instruction by communicating and collaborating with educational stakeholders; mentoring, coaching, and consulting with colleagues; providing professional development opportunities for faculty; and making decisions based on converging evidence from research.

• COMPETENCY 10The Master Technology Teacher knows how to provide

professional development and support through mentoring, modeling, coaching, andconsulting.

Coaching

• Use expertise to increase effectiveness through facilitating individual learning.

• Your goal is to facilitate others learning rather than teaching and providing answers.

• A coach is there to ask high impact questions.

• A coach will know what to ask and when to ask it to provide others with a deeper learning.

Consulting

• Usually an expert or professional in a specific field.

• Has a wide knowledge of subject manner.• Focuses on:– Problem solving– Strategies– Actions plans– Accomplishing new specific goals

• A consultant provides a solution– Ex: exactly which road to take to get to a certain

location.

Mentoring

• More of a teacher, giving advice and telling others what they need to have a deeper meaning.

• Involves a closer and more meaningful relationship.

• Task and goal is to guide the more inexperienced.

• There to help others work toward their goals– Immediate– Long term

Modeling

• Known as observational learning• Type of learning that occurs as a

function of:– Observing– Retaining– ReplicatingBehaviors executed by others

• The process is an internal process to improve others individual performance.
