Curriculum Foundations• No adopted state or national standards for
students with moderate and multiple disabilities• Standards-Based and developed to utilize Indiana
Standards/Foundation while individualizing students’ educational programs
• Focuses on indicators that are the basic skills students need to transition to adult life.
• Curriculum is divided into 7 strands which are based on Indiana Academic Standards, ISTAR (Functional Indicators in the Indiana Supplemental Tools for Alternative Assessment), Indiana Universal Indicators for Students in Guidance
-Functional Self Help -Mathematics -English/Language Arts -Social Sciences-Motor Skills -Career/Vocational

Basic Format• Divided into grade/ages:
– Early childhood (ages 3-5)– Primary (grades K-2)– Intermediate (grades 3-5)– Middle School (grades 6-8)– High School (grades 9-12)
• Each section contains possible assessment tools and best practice instructional strategies – Guides, not all inclusive– Additional informal assessments/strategies optional– Evidence based practices for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders and
other related disabilities
• Teacher Written lesson plans scattered throughout– Examples
• Web site section contains current sites that have been reviewed and evaluated
• Teacher suggested community sites– Possible outings that are available in our area with contact names/numbers– Space to add additional favorites

Guide for Administrators
• Included with the curriculum is a Structured Teaching Guide which provides administrators with an explanation of Structured Teaching, as well as a checklist for what an administrator can expect to see when observing Structured Teaching in a classroom.
