Working with Latin Link in Colombia

Latin Link Latin Link works in partnership with churches to send and receive individuals, families and teams, to or from Latin American communities, to share the love of God.

Step is our short-term programme for teams. A hands-on experience of mission in another culture for 3-16 weeks, living and working alongside a local church, helping with a practical project and joining them in reaching out to their community.

Stride is an opportunity for individuals, couples or families to spend six months to two years putting their faith into practice in Latin America or Spain. Striders use their gifts and skills working with a church or Christian-run project.

Stay. We currently have over 100 members of 14 nationalities serving for more than two years. They work with local churches and organisations to help them meet a diverse range of spiritual and practical needs, from caring for street children to training church leaders, from supporting university students to generating employment opportunities.

Hollands! We are all so excited about our

decision to move to Colombia, for one year

from early 2020.

Currently, the boys are aged 9 and 5 ¾ (don’t forget the

¾ as it is very important!). Dan is a landscape gardener/

tree surgeon and Katharine is a children’s worker,

having been a primary school teacher for 12 years.

What we’ll be doing We will be volunteering with the charity Latin Link, at a

project in Armenia, Colombia. There, we will be working

with kids and young people, in a program that focuses

on discipleship through sports. We will be serving along-

side the pastor and his wife (Jairo and Doris), planning

and leading sports games, camps and activities. We are

so excited to be involved in something that gives vulner-

able children and their families somewhere safe to go

and something safe to do. We really hope that we

can make a difference in a community experiencing

poverty. We cannot begin to imagine what God has

in store for us to learn and how He will make us

grow, as we step totally outside of our comfort zone.

Changes ahead

Our children will attend a local, Spanish speaking

school and we are busy learning Spanish so that we

can make the most of this time and really get to

know both the locals and the church community. We

will be leaving our jobs, family, friends and home,

so we do feel slightly apprehensive! However, we

believe God has good plans for us and that,

through this experience with a new people

and culture, He will do more than we

could ever ask or imagine.
