Grade 3-4 Camp Our campers got off to an excing start with students from the others schools, set to enjoy 3 days of fun acvies. While I have received no official me of return, it would be a safe bet to assume they will return before the end of the school day on Friday. Assembly will run as normal at 3.00pm. Should families wish to collect students before assembly, please advise their class teacher or Mrs Owen via text or phone message. It is unwise to rely on verbal messages which can be easily overlooked in the busy end of camp chaos. Sun Smart This week is the final week where students need to wear hats during recess and lunch. As of next week, no hats are required. This is a good opportunity for hats to be cleaned and named securely, ready for September. Class Arrangements While Miss H is away, the F-2 class will be taught by Ms Grace Bannon. Grace will begin on Monday 2 nd May for four weeks and I know our Stanhope families will give her a warm and supporve welcome. Mrs Foley is only days away from her last day with us for some me! • Grade 2 Student Teacher Dates 2016

This term our Grade 2 students will have the opportunity to teach the class something new. This can involve how to play a new game, use a new toy, look after a pet or make something to eat. Students will have 5 minutes to teach the class and it is a great opportunity to share something they know with their friends, while they practise speaking in front of a group.

Student Teacher will run on Wednesdays at 9.30am straight after PE! Parents of student teachers are more than welcome to attend as assistants!

  • Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Stanhope Primary School is excited to be participating. The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy develop-ment. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 9 September 2016. Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books. All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and can choose to have their name included on the online Honour Roll. If you would like your child‘s name to appear on the Honour Roll, please sign the attached form and return it to your school. To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklists and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: www.education.vic.gov.au/prc

If you would like your child’s name to appear on the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge online Hon-our Roll, please sign this form and return it to your school.
