NEWS (President's Message continued) program is that in spite of its suc- cesses in achieving its original goals, it is now time to place the responsibility for its actualization directly on the shoulders of our membership. The public aware- ness program should continue to pursue national awareness; it should act as a "think tank" to create innovative ways to market our practice and communicate with our referring doctors. But to be truly successful, it must attempt to convince our members in the fifty states of the importance of becoming involved personally in spreading our messages to the media, our pa- tients and referring doctors. The membership must be willing to use the collection of slides, talks, newspaper articles, brochures and tapes which have been developed to spread our messages in an evangelical manner. I hope the Public and Profes- sional Affairs Committee will be successful in getting everyone in- volved in promoting ourselves and our specialty, for if we all pull together there will be no need to worry about our future as a specialty or as a business.
