1518: European Alonzo Alveraez De Pineda sailed to Mobile Bay. He was the first European to visit what is now Alabama.
1814: General Andrew Jackson defeated the Red Stick Creek Indians. They Had to cede their land to the United States.
1817: Alabama became a federal territory. Two years later, Alabama became the 22nd state
1861: Alabama withdrew from the union and Montgomery became the state capitol
1868: Alabama rejoined the union
1955: Rosa Parks took her stand causing the boycott of the Montgomery bus system

In 1955, a very brave girl named Rosa Parks took a stand against racism. How? Well, she was very tired and on her way back home from work when a man of no color walked up to her and expected her to give up her seat because the bus was filled. She refused and got arrested. Rosa was the cause of the boycott of the Montgomery bus system.
