DESCRIPTIVE CHARACTERIZATION OF MR. IVEY SPURGEON OS'TI'lALT

Mr. J. Iyey Ostwalt (1883- ) labored zealously to make Christian ideas dominate in his home, at church, and in the community, He thought clearly and was dedicated to that which he believed to be right. His example and deep convictions caused him to be much sought after to fill places of leadership in his church.

His faith in God and devotion to Christ impelled him to live a consistent Christian life. He was blessed with common sense and leaned on the Lord for understanding.

He always kept a keen eye for young people who were capable of developing into leaders and workers in the church. He helpfully counseled with them so that they grew spiritually and lead them in using their talents and abilities in the church for the Lord. ~;ith his foresight and vision he sought the help and leadership of demonina tional trained workers to teach the up-to-date methods in Sunday School and Training Union. This served as a foundation for a progressive rural church which attained the Standard of E'"cellence.

The Pastor's who served the church during his leadership highly respected and loved him as a layman, for his thoughtfulness, faithful nessm.d helpfulness in carrying on the Lord's work.
