State Plan Requirements

• The Older Americans Act (OAA) of 1965, as amended, requires that the appointed State Agency for administration of aging issues for each State submit to the Administrator of the federal Administration for Community Living (ACL) a State Plan on Aging.

• State Agency on Aging may elect to develop a new State Plan for a two, three or four-year period. The Georgia State Plan on Aging is based on the four-year period.

State Plan Requirements

• The proposed State Plan must not only be approved by the State Agency director but also requires approval by the Governor before submission.

• The new Georgia State Plan on Aging was signed by Governor Kemp on July 18, 2019 and approved by ACL.

Public Input

• DHS/DAS contracted with the Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC) to design and provide facilitation support

• 12 Community Conversations held in every area of the state• Participation ranged from 33 to 114 individuals

• 47% were service recipients

• 10 key issue areas for “instant polling”

• Focus groups on the top 3 issue areas

• Online survey• 21 questions

• 188 individuals completed the survey
