Illinois’s History

• The first European Settlers came along the Mississippi River in 1673.

• In 1804 Sac and Fox decided to sell their land (for $1,000) and move across the Mississippi River. But the tribe argued with the white people ( that’s what they called them) and said that they got Sac and Fox drunk before signing the deal.

• Michael Jordan moved to Illinois when he was selected to play for the Chicago Bulls in 1984. Then a couple years in his playing he earned a “ Rookie of the year award”, a spot on the “All Star team”, and “All Rookie team”. He is retired now.

Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United states of America(1981-1989). He was born in 1911 Tampico, Illinois, and died at the age of 93 in California in 2004 of Alzheimer's disease.

The First skyscraper in the world.• The first

skyscraper was finished in 1885 at 138 feet 10 stories and made out of steel and brick but it demolished in 1931.
