Crimes against Women in 2012
The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) records the data on
crimes committed in the country. The table below gives
details of the state wise incidents of crimes against women and
cases of rape as registered with the NCRB.
West Bengal registered the most number of crimes against women
in 2012; the number of rape cases hasdeclined by 13 per cent over
2011
Meghalaya registered the highest ratio of cases of rape to other
crimes against women (55 per cent) Among the larger states, Odisha
registered the highest increase in the number of cases of rape (31
per cent)
