SECTION 1 - COVER Purpose of the data collection: This questionnaire aims at collecting information on countries’ statistical capacity to report on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators for which the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the custodian agency. It collects information on the national coordination mechanisms for SDG reporting, data availability and the needs for technical assistance. The information collected will be used by FAO to improve the SDG reporting process and for planning capacity development activities linked to SDG monitoring. Section 1 - Cover page

This section presents the purpose of the assessment and collects the contact details of the respondent and of the National Coordinator for the SDG Monitoring.

Section 2 – Instructions

This section presents information on how to compile the questionnaire. Please read the instructions carefully before proceeding with the questionnaire completion.

Section 3 - SDG Indicators reporting and need for assistance

This questionnaire collects information on the SDG indicators with FAO as custodian agency. The list of relevant indicators is provided in Section 2. For each indicator, you are asked to indicate whether it is already compiled, or, if not, whether you have plans to compile it. The needs for assistance are also assessed in this section.

Section 4 – Data availability and Statistical Methods

This section collects information on the overall capacity of the country to produce statistics on agriculture, natural resources, household consumption, and economic accounts for agriculture. These data are the basis for the compilation of the SDG indicators under the FAO custodianship.

In Section 4, detailed information are gathered on the main data sources and their periodicity as well as on the classifications used to collect relevant data. The National Coordinator should contact the agencies in charge of producing of such official statistics whenever required.

Section 5 - Respondent Feedback

This section contains a short survey that will help FAO to assess the quality of the questionnaire and identify areas for improvement. We would appreciate any feedback or comments about FAO’s Statistical Capacity Assessment for the FAO-relevant SDG indicators.

The questionnaire is composed mainly of closed-ended questions. Please choose the most relevant response by ticking the corresponding box. In general, only one answer is allowed. Multiple answers are allowed only for some selected questions and such questions are clearly indicated with “(Multiple responses allowed)”.

You are requested to answer to all closed-ended questions.
