Energy consumption
Energy statistics in Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS) was established in August 2005. Energy statistics developed through SIDA`s project, collaborating with SCB`s experts. Project was finished in December 2008.
Four-years plan refered to annual energy balances – (“step by step” plan) every year SORS to carry out new annual balances as a pilot projects, manly based on regular statistical surveys (and some experts estimations).
Methodology solutions for all balances are based on explanations of IEA methodology - Energy Statistics Manual.

Renewable energy consumption• Problems:• Who is responsible for energy balance data?• Ministry or SORS?• SORS made an Agreement with Ministry of
Mining and Energy, which refers to the annual IEA questionnaires. Result of this agreement is:
• - IEA sends questionnaires to Ministry,• - Ministry forwards questionnaires to RSOS,• - SORS collected data, calculated energy
balance, fills out IEA questionnaires and sends to Ministry
• - Ministry checks, approves and sends questionnaires to IEA,
• - After that SORS sends questionnaires to Eurostat and UN.
9
Renewable energy consumption
Main problems and challenges in SORS on energy balances statistics are:
• Historical data (Transitional period (1990-2000) has been very problematic for collecting data .
• Completing annual energy balances (according IEA questionaires requests)• Understaffed• Financial sources• Education - Needs for permanently improving
and expanding knowledge through atending on international (Eurostat, EEA, UN, IEA, OECD) meetings
• Lack of experts assistances
10
Renewable energy consumptionMain problems and challenges in SORS on energy
balances statistics are (cont’d):• Concrete and necessary data often has not been available
or reliable in Report Units• There is no proper Reportes and Records, input-output
data • – fuels consumption• – energy (generation and) consumptions• – necessary technical caracteristics (and description) for
the previous period • – Experts (from reportinig units) estimated data • Establishment of regulations in accordance with
international requirements is still in development• Lack of or unreliability of data in other areas relevant to
energy balance, such as households, construction, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, transport, waste streams, etc..
11
Renewable energy consumptionNew obligations:• collecting data of capacity • time series reconstruction• monthly energy balances Energy Development Strategyuntil 2015. was predicted to share of new
renewable sources (excluding large hydropower) in the total primary energy consumption should rise from zero to 1.1% in 2015. year, while share of total final energy consumption should increase to 1.5 - 2% in the period 2006-2015.
• REALISATION ?• - DEPENDS OF FINANCIAL SOURCES
12
Government, Ministries, University, Institutes, NGO s and Public are very interested in Renewable energy use, and already many meetings have been organised.
-Renewable energy sources (Dr.Branimir Jovanović (Rural Development Support Program-Round Table, 2006):

Renewable energy consumption:Wind Power Use
The next mape presents geographical position of sites in eastern Serbia, with the highest average wind speeds (Source study of EPS, 2002.), in contrast to expectations that it is Vojvodina as part of the Pannonian Basin is constantly exposed to blows wind. Agency for Energy Efficiency with the donation(grant) of Spain, around Negotin (location Popadija) conducted additional field measurements and declared the site of the first wind park in Serbia (2008). According to available information in 2009. years for several locations in Serbia, have been given approval for setting up projects for the Performing wind generator, so that in the immediate future and Serbia can expect the first kilowatt of electricity from wind power.
