Using the same Census Table 15, change the “Sex” box at the top from “Total – sex” to “male”

Go to Statistics Canada website http://www.statcan.ca/start.html , click on Census – Census 2006 – data products

Under Specialized products, click on “Census Tract (CT) profiles – then click “GeoSearch 2006”

Select street intersection and type in Toronto – Ont – Warden Av – Eglinton Av E – Find. You now have the general area displayed.

‘Census Tracts’ button. All available census tracts for the location you have selected will be highlighted in yellow.

You now need to identify the specific census tract for the Ashtonbee campus section of this map. Click “Identify” on the left column and place “?” curser over Ashtonbee campus. (Locations with no available census tracts will be grey.)

Choose the ‘Additional data’ tab – then select ‘Census Tract profiles’ link, which will bring you to a data table and reference map for that ►census tract 0350.00

You will find the answer to the question above by looking at the first two rows of the table under “Population and Dwelling Counts” for ‘0350.00 [CT]’)

Go to ESTAT from the LRC website (http://www.lrc.centennialcollege.ca/ - click e-resources – click ESTAT)

Click ►CENSUS, click "Go" for Census 2006 CENSUS OF POPULATION (46 LARGE URBAN CENTRES, CENSUS TRACTS (NEIGHBOURHOODS) and click "Go“

Select CENSUS OF POPULATION (ALL TABLES) and click "Go"


Type in the postal code in the box provided (example: M1L4N4)

Click “Select all characteristics’. (NOTE: only five of the tables for 2006 are available at this time.)

Then select a format for display (“Table Areas as Columns” works quite well; the pie chart works well when you have just a few characteristics that relate to each other) - then press enter.


The census tract code number will appear with your table or chart; postal code M1L4N4, for example is census tract number 0350.00

If you wish to download, go back to previous page & download using ‘Comma delimited file’.

You can open or save – your table is now in Excel format
