Ⅰ.Statistics on Women and Children in China 2014 is a comprehensive statistical annual focusing on current situation of women and children in China, which is first publicly published in 2014. This publication compiles relevant statistics of 2013 and historical data of major years since 2000.

Ⅱ.There are eleven chapters in this book, including Economy and Population, Health, Education, Employment and Social Security, Social Service, Social Participation, Science and Technology, Sports, Legal Protection, Society and Environment and Statistics by Province.

Ⅲ.Data and statistics compiled in this publication are drawn from annual reports and statistical yearbooks produced by National Bureau of Statistics of China and other relevant ministries under the State Council, annual statistical reports on Monitoring National Program of Action for Women and Children, and data of relevant thematic surveys.

Ⅳ.Details and percentages in tables do not necessarily add to totals because of rounding. “#” refers to a major breakdown of total, “space” means no data available, and “…” means the number is too small to be signified.

Ⅴ.Data and statistics of Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan Province are not included in this publication.

Ⅵ. Acknowledgements are given to National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Culture, National Health and Family Planning Commission, State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, General Administration of Sports, State Administration of Forestry, Supreme People’s Court of PRC, Supreme People’s Procuratorate, All-China Federation of Trade Unions , All-China Women’s Federation, China Association for Science and Technology and China Disabled Persons’ Federation for their supports.
