Overall Skill levels from survey numbers of: Literacy 2115 Numeracy 2119
There has been an improvement in literacy levels:
At Entry level or below: 2010 - 12% 2004 - 25%.
Level 1: 2010 - 29% 2004 - 37%
Level 2 or above: 2010 - 59% 2004 - 38%
There is little change in numeracy levels:
Entry Level or below: 2010 - 51% 2004 - 53%
Level 1: 2010 - 29% 2004 - 25%
Level 2 or above: 2010 - 21% 2004 - 22%
As in the 2004 survey, literacy and numeracy levels were higher amongst the employed, those
with higher levels of household income and those with higher qualifications. However, as in 2004
even graduates and those earning £50k and over showed rusty skills, particularly in numeracy
with 19% of +£50k earners and 24% of graduates being below level 1.
