Progress on Glove Box
• None to report.• Bids still out.• Have enough $$$ for big one.• Expect no surprises.
Weekly Shots• Concern about becoming complacent about
our skills.• Need continual practice to:
– Learn all steps.– Better triage for worst immediate needs.– Have whole team practiced on all steps.– More data on QE reproducibility.
• New paradigm:– Weekly shot of apparatus onto GEM in hand (one
at a time).– Each week more ambitious in replicating full
plans.
Week One Shot Goals
• Use final hold down plate (done).• Assembly on Laminar table (new filters,
ready).• Use Lid-on insertion of Evap box
– As opposed to held open above your head.– No longer extreme contaminant risk.
• Pump down to water drop.• Local QE (as is)• 3 chicklets
Additional Progress in Prep for Shot 1
• High Vacuum Storage Vessel Pumped Down– Spring-loaded valves cut off rough pump in case
of powerdown (failsafe).– 170 l/s turbo runs smoothly.– First Pumped Friday (empty can).– 2 x 10-5 torr (good, not great).– Plan to He leak chase to be sure of all seals
being tight.– Only put in precious content when system
established good few at least a few days.
Week Two shot Goals (original)
• Initially:– Handle in old Glovebox.– Insert into WIS box.– Gain Test.
• Lag in feedthroughs– Initially 9 weeks.– New company…2 weeks.– Can still be proper goal for shot3.– Need new goals for Shot2
Week Two Shot Goals (revised)
• Lift table insertion.– Needs extreme cleaning before tent.– Needs bagging where cleaning won’t take.
• Fully realized railroad:– Rails on lift table.– Rails on transfer table.– Rails in INFN box.
• Practice handling through gloves:– Into test box (no feeds).– Out of test box– On to Vacuum storage.
