The red and white uniforms were handed over directly to the students by the Regent of Pelalawan. We want all children, regardless of background and class, to have access to life- long learning. It is why we are working with the district authorities to sponsor school uniforms for the children, providing uniforms made from breathable and light fabric so that the students will be comfortable throughout the day,” Wan Mohammad Jakh Anza, General Manager, PT. APR recognized the critical role that women play in science and technology across the world on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is celebrated annually on February 1st. The training is held at Rumah Batik Andalan (RBA) in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau, where local people produce the colourful batik fabric. Who loves Batik? We do! Batik is a go-to design for Indonesians. APR Holds Training for Local Batik Makers APR now offers the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label, providing an added layer of assurance, transparency and product confidence to our customers’ expectations. The MADE IN GREEN label verifies that an article has been tested for harmful substances and certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO- TEX®. It also guarantees that the fibre has been manufactured under environmentally friendly and socially responsible working conditions, certified to STeP by OEKO-TEX®. In January, APR successfully obtained the Sustainable Textile Production (STeP) by OEKO-TEX® for the responsible manufacturing of viscose staple fibre. APR is the first viscose manufacturer in Indonesia to receive this internationally recognised certification! Our unique MADE IN GREEN ID is included on the hangtags of garments, which means they can be traced back to our mill where the viscose fibre was manufactured. The event, held over 10-11 December, highlighted sustainability and environmental issues in the fashion industry and how they can be addressed with better alternatives. Our VP of Communications and Sustainability, Cherie Tan, shared our experience on sustainability and environmental initiatives, while our QA/QC Manager, Li Wen Feng, provided updates on new materials & technology. The training forms part of APR’s Social Stewardship programme commitment to develop the communities where the company operates, as well as helping to grow the Indonesian textile and fashion industry. A total of 72 Muslim clothing design collections, which included a mixture of women and menswear, were modelled on the runway. APR also held a competition for fashion aficionados focused on styling and fashion design. APR kicked-off 2020 by distributing new uniforms made from locally produced viscose to more than 1,200 school children in the Pelalawan district.
