Parent / Coach Communication• Appropriate Concerns with
Coaches:– The treatment of your child,
mentally and physically.– Ways to help your child
improve.– Concerns about your child’s
behavior.– It is very difficult to accept
your child’s limited playing time and coaches are professionals and make judgment decisions based on what they believe to be best for all students.
• Issues Not Appropriate to Discuss with Coaches:
- Playing time- Team strategy- Play Calling- Other student-athletes
Parent / Coach CommunicationProper Procedure When Concerns Arise
1) Start with the coach (set up an appointment)*Please do not confront a coach prior to, during or after a practice or contest
2) If not satisfied, set up an appointment with the Athletic Department*Playing time and other athletes will not be discussed
3) Misinformation and rumors are one of the biggest challenges we face4) PLEASE CONTACT THE ATHLETIC OFFICE WITH CONCERNS OR QUESTIONS
Attendance PolicyStudents must be in school for at least 3 hours to
practice or compete in any athletic contests. Student-athletes may be excused for
Doctor/Dentist appointments or funerals.
PHS Athletic CodeStudent – Athletes are to follow the Athletic Code at all times. The Athletic Code of Conduct can be found in the student handbook.
Basic IHSAA Eligibility
You are enrolled at PHS to learn and graduate in four years with the highest grade pointaverage you are capable of achieving. If you have trouble focusing on what is important in the Academic classroom, you will undoubtedly have trouble focusing on what is important in the Athletic Classroom(s).
In order to be eligible to play any sport, you must do the following:-Be enrolled in at least 5 courses. It is best to enroll in at least 6, preferably 7, especially if you
are taking some challenging courses or if you have difficulty making good grades.
-You must have passed at least 5 courses during the previous grading period. If the previous grading period was the end of the semester, the semester grade counts, not the 9 week term
grade.-You must not reach your 20th birthday before the state championship game in your sport.
PHS Athletic BoostersThe PHS Athletic Booster Club’s fundraising projects include membership fees, apparel sales, and other advertising opportunities. Our funds and volunteer
