Are you a Syner?(Why the heck not?)

• Harley-Davidson Syn3 is the full synthetic oil that you can use from day one and still allow proper break-in of the engine.

• The oil change interval for Synthetic Oil and conventional oil is the SAME. Oil gets dark with use from carbon build up as a by product of combustion. This carbon is abrasive and as hard as a diamond.

• Harley-Davidson Syn3 contains special additives to prevent SKATE in roller bearing engines. Other synthetic oils may not have this protection.

• A larger oil filter does not necessarily give better protection. All oil filters have a by-pass check valve to protect your engine when the oil gets dirty. This prevents oil starvation to critical areas. The recommended H-D filter for your engine is set for the correct oil by-pass pressure. You should always change your oil at recommended intervals and use the correct H-D oil filter.

• The Twin Cam 88 oil filter has a finer filter screen (5 microns) than the evolution filter. You can use this filter on an Evolution engine/ you CAN NOT use the Evolution oil filter on the Twin Cam 88 engine.

Hi, I’m Barbara Buccola and I’ve been selling motorcycle insurance here at Bergen County Harley-Davidson for over ten years. During this time, I’ve seen a lot of changes in insurance companies and their ability to keep up with the ever-changing needs of our customers.

Here’s a couple of things you’ll want to consider when it comes to insuring your bike: What does your policy cover if you hurt someone, yourself or your passenger in an accident? Did you know there is a med pay you can purchase that can cover you up to $25,000? There’s also towing and roadside assistance coverage if your motorcycle is disabled and unrideable. You can be covered for meals, lodging and transportation as well.

One of the benefits of working with me is that I work with several different insurance companies to get you the best possible policy. I’ll take the time to explain what you’re purchasing, and work with you to customize a policy that protects you, and fits your riding style. Don’t be fooled by companies that quote low premiums. While their prices may sound low, once you get in an accident, the coverage isn’t what it seemed. In other words, you get what you pay for.

When it comes to insurance, take your time. Let me help you do your homework. You shouldn’t spend more time picking out accessories for your bike than you do protecting your bike or, better yet, yourself. Boy, it was a busy summer for Bergen County Harley-Davidson/Bergen BMW Motorcycles! Due to numerous dealerships closing in our area we were inundated with work in the Service

Department. At one point there were as many as 127 bikes on our waiting list and our lead time was as long as two weeks out. But thanks to the hard work of our Service Department our team was

able to turn over an average of 27 motorcycles a day. That’s including Express Lane Service, people dropping off their bikes, and people that have made appointments. What?! You didn’t know you

could make an appointment at our Service Department? Well, let me tell you what options we have for you to choose from so you can get your bike serviced at your convenience.

3 Ways to get your motorcycle serviced at BC H-D/BMW

1. Express Lane Service (ELS): Mon – Thurs and Sat this is strictly a first come first served basis. Our suggestion is to get here as early as possible, we book up fast!. Now, ELS is not

for all services. It is for jobs that take 3 hours or less such as, a 1K. 5K service, oil changes, tires, batteries, services, accessories, and clutch adjustments just to name a few. Diagnostics and

trouble shooting is excluded from ELS.2. Make an appointment: You can make an appointment to get service, accessories or repairs! On the day of your appointment, you can wait for your motorcycle to be serviced, or you can drop it off the night before or early that morning. Call or stop by to get scheduled. 3. Drop Off: You can drop your bike off at anytime for service. However, depending on our work load and the time of year there could be a 1-12 day lead time before your bike gets to a technician.4. Exceptions: Of course, there are exceptions. Current model year motorcycles in need of warranty repairs will get priority service. The secret to keeping warm/cool when out on the open road is layering. Things to consider before leaving (dressing for your trip): How long (approximate-ly) will you be traveling? Where are you traveling? (North? South?) What is the weather forecast predicting for the area(s) you are traveling to? During the fall and winter months, it is always better to be prepared. On top, start with a long sleeved tee or turtleneck (preferably, a fabric that wicks away moisture). Next, add a tee shirt, sweatshirt, leather jacket, and rain jacket. Cold weather gloves and glove liners, a neck gai-ter/face mask is also always good to have. On bottom, start with thermal pants or stockings, then add jeans, chaps, and finally, rain pants. Charlie’s really helpful Tech Tips...

Change your oil BEFORE you put your bike away for the winter! Dirty oil can cause etching of metal parts when sitting over time. Always put your bike away with clean oil.MVP members Mention “Winter Special” at the parts counter and receive 20% off 4 quarts of SYN3 oil and Filter.

Your tires will lose air pressure when sitting over the winter. This is normal as there is some porosity in the rubber. You should add about 5-6 lbs of air to your tires when you put the bike away for storage. Never exceed the Maximum pressure listed on the side wall of the tire. Always check and inflate your tires to the proper pressure as stated in your owners manual when re-turning the motorcycle to service in the spring. Not all Harley Davidson motorcycles use DOT 5 brake fluid as in the past. Since 1976 HD switched to DOT 5 in all models as it was not as corrosive as the DOT 3 brake fluid previously used. Now DOT 4 is used in 06-later V-Rod, 07-later XL, 08-later XR, 06-later Dyna & Softail, and 05-later Touring models. Check before you add brake fluid! Never use Tire shine or Armor All on your motorcycle tires. Many believe this will prevent sidewall cracking or Dry rot as it is called. It will just make your tires slippery and dangerous. Sidewall cracking is caused by lack of use! Using your motorcycle causes the tires to heat up and Flex the rubber compound. This heating, flexing and cooling keeps the rubber compounds from drying out and cracking. Be carefull of super discount prices on tires. They could be Old, Hard and ready to crack from sit-ting on the shelf way to long. Buy from a reputable Dealer that has good turnover of products. Almost all the gasoline today contains up to 10% ethanol. Many areas will be going to 15% ethanol in the near future. This can cause problems in your fuel system and carburetors/injectors. This ethanol holds moisture and contaminants that can effect the performance of your engine, and clog screens and filters. Not to mention a 5% decrease in fuel mileage. Depending on your make and model there are special additives you can use to prevent these issues form becoming problems. Check with the experts at the H-D & BMW counter for the correct product for your motorcycle.

The new Millennium has ushered in major changes in technology, science and most importantly MOTORCYCLES!
