2 Highest allocation for development in 2020 State Budget This is to accelerate the socio-economic development of the state for the benefit of the people. 6 Establishing Sarawak Research and Development Council (SRDC) Approved on Nov 9, 2017, the council is mandated to monitor the promotion, coordination and development of research and development (R&D) in the state. 5 Protecting people’s rights over ownership of land through recognition of native territorial domain This was achieved through the passing of the Sarawak Land Code (Amendment) Bill 2018. Enhancing monitoring of high-impact projects The State Development Coordination Commiee was formed to monitor the implementation and progress of high- impact people’s projects to ensure such projects are carried out and completed on schedule for the benefit of the people. 7 Safeguarding Sarawak’s rights, interests and status To protect Sarawak’s rights, interests and status as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and Federal Constitution, a Consultative Commiee was established to advise Sarawak representatives in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Steering Commiee. 1 Lowering land premium rate The land premium rate has been lowered for reselement and village expansion schemes by 50 per cent. Premium has been fixed at RM2,500 per lot compared with RM5,000 per lot previously. 4 Empowering integrity in the management of government projects The chief minister oversaw the seing up of the Integrity and Ombudsman Unit, training of integrity officers, and enhancement of transparency in open tender. 3 International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (Idecs) Held from April 3 to 4, 2017 and May 14 to 15, 2018, eight main measures were carried out towards a Sarawak Digital Economy, namely seing up of Development Bank of Sarawak, inception of Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), establishment of Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), improving the speed of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure, digital village, promoting online study among new generation, promoting Sarawak as a data centre location, and formulating a digital plan for Sarawak. 8 Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy Document 2018-2022 Launched on Dec 13, 2017, it contains 47 strategic actions for the development of digital economy. The main sectors are agriculture, manufacturing industry 4.0, tourism, smart city, digital healthcare,e-commerce, digital and social government and social sector. Centexs as a digital talent development centre A memorandum of understanding between Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) and Huawei Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was signed on Nov 10, 2017 to provide youths with an opportunity to participate in training and talent development in the digital field. 12 Sarawak ID A digital identity system that was introduced to ease the people’s transactions with the government as well as assist in the transition towards a digital government. 13 Digital Kenyalang Launched on Nov 14, 2017, it serves as a platform to assist micro entrepreneurs to market their products in an effort to increase their income. 14 Sarawak Pay Launched on Nov 15, 2017, this platform encourages the application of cashless transactions. 15 Sarawak e-Commerce Forum Launched on Nov 7, 2017, it is a platform to encourage online business among entrepreneurs. 16 E-Commerce Transformation Plan 2030 (E-Com Y30) E-Com Y30 was launched on April 5, 2017 to increase digital skills among youths and provide them the opportunity to venture in e-commerce. 18 SarawakGov Launched on March 13, 2017, the app provides up-to-date information on the Sarawak government’s services. 17 Broaden use of Lasis Mobile App Launched on July 24, 2018to improve services to the people regarding land administrative maers. 19 20 Strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) This is made possible with pioneer projects such as the seing-up of STEM education laboratory, besides competency courses and TVET short-term courses. 21 Restoring and rebuilding of dilapidated schools This is achieved through a special allocation for dilapidated schools. 22 Financial aid for government-aided schools (Chinese-medium and Mission schools) To improve the standard of infrastructure, buildings, and facilities. 23 Empowering the command of the English language To enable the people of Sarawak to master the fields of science and technology and enhance communication skills with the global community. 24 Continued support for Chinese-medium schools Recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC). Increasing education scholarship funds This is achieved through raising the timber premium. 25 Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) Sarawak Multimedia Authority Ordinance was passed by the State Legislative Assembly in November 2017. Launched on Dec 23, 2017, it is currently still operational.
