To Wrap-Up the NEH/ALA funded screenings of the
7-part series Latino Americans: 500 Years of History,
the Library will be hosting a Latin American Cook-Off!
Contestants will prepare a dish from a Latin American
country and their entries will be judged by celebrity
judges. This culinary challenge will take place on
Saturday, May 28 at the Library parking lot. To sign

Drawing subject must be something one can see,
do, or find at the Library.
Drawing Must be a line drawing done in black on
white, non-ruled paper.
All ages can participate, and submissions must be
received by May 2.
Taste of Latin American
2016 is the Library’s 40th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the Friends of
the Library are asking for your help in creating a coloring book series celebrating the
Library. Each book in the series will be aimed at a different age group: one for
adults, one for teens, and one for children. The Friends are asking the community to
submit drawings for the series. Guidelines for submissions are:
Additionally, the Friends of the Library are sponsoring a book cover design contest.
The contest is for a drawing of the library building itself. Contestants must be age 12
or under to submit a cover for the children’s volume; between the ages of 13 and 19
for the teen volume; and age 20 or above for the adult volume. The winning entries
will not only grace the cover of their respective book, but will also receive a prize. Con-
tact the Library for more information.
Join us on Saturday, March 26 at 12:30 p.m. for our an-
nual Easter Egg Hunt. This year’s hunt has been
expanded to provide more fun. This year, children under
age 2 begin the hunt at 1:00 p.m., ages 2-5 begin at
1:15 p.m., and ages 6-8 begin at 1:30 p.m. In addition
to the hunt, there will be crafts for all and the Friends of
the Library’s ever popular Bake Sale and Basket Raffle.
Registration is required and spots fill up quickly, so sign
up today.

The Relay for Life of Chicago Heights will take place on Friday, May 13th at Bloom Trail High School, and the Library has created a team to participate. The event will begin at 6:30 pm with the Opening Ceremony, then throughout the evening, teams
and individuals will participate and raise funds to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives from cancer.
The event includes entertainment, family activities, music, food, theme laps,
luminaria ceremony and more.
Cancer survivors will be honored at the event with a Survivor dinner at 5:30 pm. They also will celebrate by taking the first lap around the track.
