Happy Easter!
Happy Easter! Or as most other languages prefer: Blessed Pasch—Passover! Pasqua, Pascua, Páscoa, Pâques! Israel’s Passover through the Red Sea to the Promised Land! Jesus’ Passover through the Cross to resurrection! Our catechumens’ Passover last night, and ours once upon a time, through Baptism’s waters to our family’s Eucharist! Welcome, everybody! As someone once said of the Catholic Church, “Here comes everybody!” So in this Jubilee of Mercy, we make our own Saint John Chrysostom’s Easter welcome from fourteen hundred years ago: “Let everyone enjoy this radiant feast! You who fasted from Lent’s beginning, and you who didn’t fast at all, rejoice! The table’s richly set! Come, take from it, everybody, no worries, no embarrassment! All of you, taste the banquet of faith! Enjoy the feast of forgiveness! Let no one grieve for having sinned again and again: pardon has risen from the tomb!” Happy Easter! Blessed Pasch! Sunday, April 21, 2019 Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Risen Christ:
An affectionate greeting to each family of our parish community of Saint Elizabeth of Portugal - receive this message of joy, celebrating the living presence of the risen Jesus Christ from the dead. Happy Easter,
everyone!
We have joyfully awakened this morning, after waiting this past Saturday in the silence of prayer and meditating on the mystery of the saving Cross of Christ. He has finally conquered death, delivered us from eternal death, and filled our hearts with hope. On this holy night, little by little, it was in the darkness that the light appeared, and the lighting of the Paschal Candle indicated to us that Christ’s Light for the nations was guiding us towards a new reality. He could not leave us in the darkness, He, who so often spoke of a new life, to which now, full of faith, we can aspire.
The bewilderment has passed, Christ obedient to the Father, for his Passion and Cross calls us to a new life, to truly resurrect and not to look for the living among the dead, which is why the word of God invites us to look for the goods from above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father (Colossians 3:1-4).
The concerns of Magdalene and the disciples! As they went early looking for the Lord, they wanted to anoint a corpse with respect and devotion, and were sad for not finding Him, but Peter confirms and finds signs of life, not of vandalism, but the order of God that assures and remembers the words of his beloved Master, understanding that his Master was to rise from the dead, and they do not leave the tomb to announce a tragedy, but to announce that the Lord is alive forever! And it is then the new dawn, which dispels all sadness (John 20: 1-9). Today is the opportunity to open our eyes and ignite the hearts of our family, and to announce to them the resurrected Christ, the savior of men; it does not matter if Christ is not discovered immediately, they will be able to walk the path of Emmaus just like the disciples, without looking or understanding, until they invite Him to go into their lives and discover Him by breaking the bread that satisfies all hunger, and that they can then invite Him to stay forever in their lives and that He will make them faithful disciples that he will send to announce this great good news (Luke 24: 13-35).
Let us live this Easter time with love and gratitude, saying strongly with faith and joy, Christ is Resurrected! Alleluia, and we with Him, Alleluia!

If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar;
for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen; cannot love God
whom he has not seen. This is the commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

What kind of sense does it make to call your bad temper a virtue, and your neighbor's good will a fault or failing?
While you are aware of no shortage of defects in yourself, why are you so intent on attacking your neighbor's?
Love of neighbor is the most reliable test of your love of God.
To love others does not mean that you have to lavish signs of affection on them or spoil them; in fact, sometimes you may even have to cause them distress for the sake of truth or for their own good.
Jesus does not teach us to love by means of our emotions, since he tells us to love even our enemies. To love others means sincerely wishing them well and doing everything we can to secure their happiness. This demands that we forget ourselves completely.

CHÚA NHẬT PHỤC SINH Chúa Ðã Sống Lại & Ra Khỏi Mồ
Bài đọc 1: Cv 10: 34-37;43 Chúng ta sẽ nghe Thánh Phêrô giảng dạy Chúa Giêsu là Con Thiên Chúa làm người, chịu chết và sống lại để chuộc tội mọi người. Ai tin Người sẽ được cứu độ. Bài đọc 2: Cl 3:1-4 Trong đoạn thư sau đây, thánh Phaolô kêu gọi chúng ta là những kẻ tin Chúa sống lại, hãy lo tìm những sự trên Trời là hạnh phúc bất diệt, chứ đừng tìm của cải danh vọng vui sướng thế gian là hạnh phúc giả tạo.
Tin Mừng: Ga 20: 1-9 Tin Mừng hôm nay thuật lại rằng, từ sáng sớm, bà Maria đi thăm mồ Chúa. Không thấy xác Chúa, bà hoảng hốt chạy về báo cho Tông đồ Phêrô và Gioan. Hai ông cùng chạy đến mồ, và khi Gioan nhìn thấy ngôi mộ trống, ông đã tin rằng Chúa đã sống lại ra khỏi mồ theo lời Thánh Kinh.

T ư C C Xứ Chúa Nhật, ngày 21 tháng 4 năm 2019 Kính chào Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em trong Chúa Kitô Phục Sinh,
Tôi xin được trân trọng gửi đến từng Gia đình của Cộng đoàn Giáo xứ Thánh Elizabeth Bồ Đào Nha chúng ta lời chào mừng hân hoan, khi chúng ta cử hành sự hiện diện thật sống động của Chúa Giêsu Kitô chỗi dậy từ cõi chết. Mừng Lễ Phục Sinh đến tất cả Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em!
Sáng nay, chúng ta đã thức dậy trong hân hoan, sau ngày thứ Bảy vừa qua chờ đợi trong yên lặng, cầu nguyện và suy gẫm về Mầu nhiệm Cứu chuộc của Thập giá Chúa Kitô. Cuối cùng Ngài đã chiến thắng sự chết, giải thoát chúng ta khỏi cái chết muôn đời và phủ đầy tâm hồn chúng ta niềm hy vọng bất diệt. Trong đêm linh thiêng này, chúng ta thấy từ trong bóng tối bắt đầu ló dạng ánh sáng, và ánh sáng của Ngọn nến Vượt qua đã tỏ hiện cho chúng ta thấy rằng Ánh sáng Chúa Kitô đang hướng chúng ta đến một thực tại mới. Ngài không để chúng ta sống trong bóng tối, Ngài thường nói về một cuộc sống mới, một cuộc sống mà bây giờ chúng ta có thể khao khát trong tin yêu.
Những hoang mang lo âu giờ đã qua, Chúa Kitô đã vâng phục Chúa Cha. Cuộc khổ nạn và Thập giá của Ngài mời gọi chúng ta sống một cuộc sống mới, để chúng ta thật sự phục sinh và không tìm kiếm sự sống giữa cõi chết nữa, đó là lý do tại sao Lời Chúa mời gọi chúng ta hãy tìm kiếm những gì thuộc Thượng giới, nơi Chúa Kitô đang ngự bên hữu Chúa Cha (Cô-lô-sê 3: 1-4).
Bà Ma-đa-lê-na và các Môn đệ thật là lo lắng! Sáng sớm khi họ đi tìm Chúa, họ muốn tẩm xác Ngài một cách tôn trọng và chu đáo, và đã thật lo buồn khi không tìm thấy Ngài. Nhưng Thánh Phêrô đã vững tin khi nhìn thấy dấu hiệu của sự sống, không phải của sự phá rối, rồi những huấn lệnh của Chúa đã trấn an Ông và Ông nhớ lại những lời dạy bảo của Thầy yêu dấu của mình, hiểu ra được rằng Thầy của mình đã sống lại từ cõi chết. Và bởi thế, các Ngài đã rời ngôi mộ trở về không phải để thông báo về một bi kịch, nhưng để loan báo rằng Chúa đã sống lại thật! Thế nên, đó là bình minh mới, xua tan hết mọi nỗi âu sầu. (Gioan 20: 1-9).
Hôm nay là cơ hội để chúng ta mở mắt và đốt nóng tâm hồn mọi người trong Gia đình chúng ta, loan báo cho họ biết về Chúa Kitô Phục Sinh, Ngài là Vị cứu tinh. Không sao cả nếu Chúa Kitô không được họ nhận ra ngay liền, họ có thể sẽ phải bước đi trên con đường Emmau giống như các môn đệ, chẳng nhìn ra và cũng chẳng hiểu gì, cho đến khi họ mời Ngài đi vào cuộc sống của họ và khám phá ra được Ngài khi bẻ tấm bánh mà làm thỏa mãn tất cả mọi cơn đói, để rồi sau đó họ sẽ mời Ngài ở lại mãi mãi trong cuộc đời của mình; và Ngài sẽ làm cho họ trở nên những môn đệ trung thành mà Ngài sai đi để loan báo về Tin mừng tuyệt vời này (Lu-ca 24:13-35).
Chúng ta hãy sống mùa Phục Sinh này với tràn đầy tình yêu và lòng biết ơn, hãy tuyên xưng mạnh mẽ trong tin yêu và hoan lạc: Chúa Kitô đã sống lại! Alleluia! và chúng ta sẽ được sống lại với Ngài! Alleluia!
Nguyện xin Thiên Chúa chúc phúc, ban bình an, và đổ tràn đầy tâm hồn Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em niềm vui Phục
Sinh và Sự Sống viên mãn.

Elizabeth de Portugal, reciban este mensaje de alegría, celebrando la presencia viva de Jesucristo resucitado de entre los muertos. ¡Felices Pascuas a todos!
Que alegres hemos despertado esta mañana, después de esperar este sábado en el silencio de la oración y meditando el misterio de la Cruz salvadora de Cristo. Finalmente ha vencido la muerte, nos ha librado de la muerte eterna y llenado nuestros corazones de esperanza. En esta noche santa poco a poco fue en la oscuridad apareciendo la luz y el encendido del Cirio Pascual nos indicaba que Cristo Luz para las naciones nos iba guiando hacia una nueva realidad. No podía dejarnos en las tinieblas, Él, que tantas veces habló de una vida nueva, a la que ahora llenos de fe podemos aspirar.
El desconcierto ha pasado, Cristo obediente al Padre, por su Pasión y Cruz nos llama a la vida nueva, a resucitar de veras y a no buscar entre los muertos al que vive, por eso la palabra de Dios nos invita a buscar los bienes de arriba donde está Cristo, sentado a la derecha del Padre. Colosenses 3,1-4.
¡Que preocupación de Magdalena y los discípulos! Al buscar temprano al Señor, querían ungir un cadáver con respeto y devoción, y tristes por no encontrarlo, pero Pedro confirma y encuentra signos de vida no de vandalismo, sino el orden de Dios que asegura y recuerda las palabras de su amado Maestro, entendiendo que su Maestro había de resucitar de entre los muertos, y no se van del sepulcro para anunciar una tragedia, sino para anunciar que ¡el Señor está vivo para siempre! Y es entonces el nuevo amanecer, que disipa toda tristeza. (Juan 20: 1-9).
Hoy es la oportunidad de abrir los ojos y encender el corazón de nuestra familia, y anunciarles al Cristo salvador de los hombres resucitado, no importa si no se descubre de inmediato, ellos podrán caminar como los discípulos de Emaus, sin mirar ni entender, hasta que lo inviten a pasar a su vida y lo descubran en un momento de su vida, al partir el pan que sacia toda hambre, y al que podrán entonces invitar a quedarse para siempre en su vida y que los hará fieles discípulos que enviará a anunciar esta gran buena nueva. (Lucas 24: 13-35). Vivamos este tiempo pascual con amor y gratitud, diciendo fuertemente con fe y alegría ¡Cristo Resucitó! ¡Aleluya y nosotros con Él Aleluya!

¡Feliz Pascua!
¡Feliz Pascua! La Pascua de Israel a través del Mar Rojo a la Tierra Prometida! La Pascua de Jesús a través de la cruz a la resurrección. La Pascua de nuestros catecúmenos anoche, y la nuestra una vez más, a través de las aguas de nuestro bautizo a nuestra familia eucarística. ¡Bienvenidos todos! Como alguien dijo una vez acerca de la Iglesia católica: “¡aquí vienen todos!” Así que en este jubileo de misericordia, hacemos nuestra propia Pascua de san Juan Crisóstomo desde hace cuatrocientos años “¡Permitan que todos se alegren en esta fiesta radiante! Ustedes que ayunaron desde el inicio de la Cuaresma y ustedes que no ayunaran para nada, ¡alégrense! ¡La mesa está generosamente arreglada! Vengan, sírvanse, todos, no se preocupen, ¡no se avergüencen! ¡Todos ustedes, prueben el banquete de la fe! ¡Disfruten la fiesta del perdón! ¡No lloren por haber pecado una y otra vez: el perdón se levanta del sepulcro!” ¡Feliz Pascua! ¡Bienvenidos todos! Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe
Hace casi dos mil años María Magdalena fue muy de mañana al sepulcro de Jesús. Fue a rezar como muchos hacemos ante la tumba de un ser amado. Esa mañana ella se convertiría en apóstol de los apóstoles, primera testigo de Jesús resucitado de entre los muertos. Siglos después el testimonio de la Magdalena sigue siendo importante en la historia cristiana. Durante estos días en Anguiano, España, hombres y jóvenes de las viejas familias de la zona bailan y caminan con una pequeña imagen de la Magdalena. Se visten con camisas y faldones largos de muchos colores, mostrando la belleza de la diversidad hispana. Ellos bailan en honor de esa santa mujer de Magdala y lo hacen sobre andas de casi un metro de altura. Ellos toman la imagen desde la iglesia de su pueblo en las montañas en el norte del país y la llevan bailando por las calles empedradas bajando al santuario que han preparado para ella. Grupo de Oración Resurrección y Vida
Invitamos a la comunidad a compartir con el Grupo de Oración Resurrección y Vida todos los miércoles a partir de las 7:00 pm en la iglesia. Nos reunimos para aprender más de la palabra, dar gracias a nuestro Padre Dios por las maravillas que hace, venimos a ofrecerle alabanzas y también tenemos conferencistas que los invitamos a darnos testimonios de fe, esperanza y caridad.
Escuche el llamado de Jesús y venga a adorarle y glorificarle.

Domingo de Pascua
Algunas veces la historia de la Pascua parece tan familiar que bostezamos ante su pintoresca historia pasada de moda. La “Buena Nueva” es, después de todo, un par de miles de años de antigua. Hoy, sin embargo, nuestras lecturas nos recuerdan que somos una creación nueva en el Señor resucitado. Hoy, nos maravillamos ante la novedad de Jesús. Hoy, alabamos a Dios por la forma de partida que él elige para revelarnos la vida eterna. Cuando Pedro habla en los Hechos de los Apóstoles, él llama “árbol” a la cruz de Jesús. La palabra que eligió nos invita a recordar otro árbol en las Escrituras, el árbol del cual Adán y Eva egoístamente comieron el fruto prohibido. Ese árbol en el Jardín del Edén trajo la muerte a los humanos; el árbol de Jesús trae vida. Pedro explica el propósito de nuestra nueva vida: debemos creer en Jesús y pedir perdón por nuestros pecados. Debemos dejar atrás el egoísmo de la desobediencia del árbol de la muerte y abrazar el camino de auto sacrificio que Jesús moldeó en el árbol de la vida.
Donde la Muerte Va a Morir
Otra imagen que la Pascua nos hace nuevos es en el sepulcro. Los cementerios raramente nos ocasionan alegría. Nadie considera a una tumba el perfecto lugar para celebrar. Y aun así el sepulcro de Jesús es un lugar alegre de la conversión final de los discípulos para su nueva forma de vida. Al estar en el sepulcro donde pusieron el cuerpo de Jesús unos pocos días antes, Pedro y Juan llegan a comprender la plenitud de la gloria de Dios. El poder extraordinario dador de vida de Dios hace burla a la muerte.
Esta transformación ofrece esperanza a nuestras vidas cotidianas. Aunque Cristo resucitó, la vida humana todavía enfrenta sufrimiento y angustia. En nuestros momentos más bajos, podemos ser tentados a perder la fe en Dios. La Pascua nos recuerda que el mismo Jesús enfrentó el terror que la vida nos presenta y que venció. Cuando estamos en lugares oscuros que sentimos que estamos en nuestros propios sepulcros, Jesús está con nosotros. El Señor transforma la más oscura muerte en vida nueva.

Easter Prayer
Lord God, You loved this world so much,
that you gave your one and only Son, that we might be called your children, too.
Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace of Easter Sunday, everyday.
Let us have hearts of thankfulness for your sacrifice.
Let us have eyes that look upon Your grace, and rejoice in our salvation.
Help us to walk in that mighty grace and tell your good news
to the world. All for your glory do we pray, Lord, Amen.
