How Parents can support STELLAR
Talk and listen to your child • Talk about daily activities in EL as much as
possible. • Ask what, why and how questions• Show them a picture and ask them to describe
what they see and how they feel about it.
Write with your child everyday • Include your child in actual writing tasks
(shopping lists, notes). • Display your child’s drawing and writing at
home. • Encourage them to keep a journal.

Play language games • Who am I? Describe a character from a
recent story and ask who it is.• I spy with my little eye something that
