What is the STEM Academy?
Effort by faculty and staff to provide an advanced and rigorous science, mathematics, engineering and technology pathway
Offers students who are accepted a curriculum that is driven by problem-solving, discovery, exploratory learning, student-centered development and a cumulative capstone project and STEM-based internship.
What are the benefits of the STEM Academy?
Select courses offered only to STEM students such as: ◦ STEM Pre-AP Chemistry ◦ STEM Capstone and Internship
STEM Counselor – Ms. Liz Clark Participation in college-modeled research Actively seek and intern in a STEM-based field Gain skills that separate student apart from
others when applying to college ◦ Research and Design ◦ Internship
And still can participate in all Lassiter High School activities
What does a typical schedule look like for a STEM Academy student?
Two pathways available to students: ◦ Accelerated Science and Mathematics Pathway: The
accelerated science and mathematics pathway provides students with a rigorous schedule of Honors and Advanced Placement courses in both math and science with a focus on the integration of technology with scientific research and design.
◦ Engineering Pathway: The engineering pathway provides a focus on content related to the physical sciences including advanced physics, computer science and problem-based learning in engineering.
