Step N2 College does not just mean going to a four-year school. Step N2 College is not just about preparing students to step in, as it is not enough to just GO to college, if students don’t stay and graduate and successfully reach their educational objectives. So, we are also about helping students realize key skills, attributes, behaviors to succeed once they Step “N” and prepare them to STEP out.

Step N2 College Objectives...

Encourage students to utilize school resources (school counselors & career development coordinators) and web-based resources (College Foundation of North Carolina www.cfnc.org) for college and career planning.Emphasize the importance of academic preparedness and increase college readiness skills by linking students with pre-college programs.

Encourage parental involvement in school (Teacher Conferences, PTSA, Parent Volunteers, Open Houses/Parent Nights, College Nights) activities and increase parent’s knowledge of the necessary steps to prepare for college through use of community-based workshops, seminars and media outreach.

Step N2 College is NOT just for middle and high school students, as we want to provide resources and information to ANY person eligible to enter into a post-secondary institution.

What Makes Us Unique...

According to a Kaiser Family Foundation study, today’s youth spend an average of 7.5 hours per day on entertainment media. Therefore, utilizing media and technology puts us into a unique position to directly invade their world giving us the opportunity to interact and infuse them with entertaining, educational programming.

We are providing college preparatory resources through non- print materials.Utilizing media and technology allows us to use audio-visual means to interject students to real college experiences from real college students. Step N2 College TV Show:Leaving The Footprint of Education Behind

Step N2 College TV Show is an educational outreach initiative creating the resources through which students across the U.S. can obtain the knowledge about post-secondary education and continue their journeys on the educational path to success. Our goal is to foster positive relationships between parents, students, and academic figures by using the vehicle of media and entertainment. We have a 30-minute television show and DVD series which features college and universities across the U.S., as education experts, college students, career professionals, performers, and celebrities share tips for school and life success. Public figures, celebrities, and community organizations combine to share their powerful stories and advice about how to hone in on one’s passion and properly prepare for post-secondary educational institutions. Programming serves to  encourage middle and high school students to step it up in school, while utilizing their full potential, as they move forward with developing a post-secondary plan connected to their passion and “Step N2” some form of post-secondary education on the way to their dreams.

Over 1.2 million students drop out of high school each year in America. In fact, on average, seven thousand students drop out of school daily, according to Alliance For Excellent Education. More specifically, less than 20% of high school freshman in North Carolina will go on to enter college and earn a four year degree (National Center for Higher Education Management Systems, NCHEMS). The predictions of jail cells built are based on the types of grades boys receive in school as early as the 8th grade. Step N2 College TV Show was born out of a desire to empower and positively impact students to not only graduate from high school, but also continue with post-secondary education.

Created by Educator/Motivational Speaker/Actress, Koyah Rivera to assist K-12 students with developing the skills, resources, and motivation to pursue their dreams through the obtainment of post-secondary education, the show is partnering with colleges, universities, and technical schools across the U.S. to highlight the tremendous opportunities college campuses have to offer. Once they "Step N", the goal is simple-school success! Koyah's program's focus on the importance of finding one's true passion in life, aligning that with a student's natural talents, abilities, and skills, and then mapping out a plan to transform dreams into reality.
