THOMAS TO RUN FOR PEC BOARD

Former Cedar Park Council Member and State Government Executive

to Champion Fiscal Responsibility, Openness, and Accountability

(Cedar Park, TX) Stephen Thomas announced his candidacy for election to the Board of Directors of the

Pedernales Electric Cooperative today. A San Antonio native and Central Texas resident for more than a decade,

Thomas was previously elected three times to serve on the Cedar Park City Council and had a twenty-five year

    career in state government.

Thomas said, I have experience representing neighbors and fellow citizens fairly. PEC needs experienced andcommitted conservative leadership, now more than ever, representing members throughout the service area to

prevent it from being dominated by special interests. Id like to put my years of managing complex organizationsand a proven fiscally disciplined approach to work for our members.

I have heard from many fellow PEC members that enhanced fiscal responsibility and an effort to review and lowerrates should be undertaken by the board. I am committed to a top to bottom review of the PEC rate structure,

    Thomas added.

Thomas is seeking the District 3 Board position, but stressed that members from throughout the entire service area

may vote for him. Ballots will be mailed to PEC members May 4, after which time members may vote by mail,

online (www.pec.coop) through June 10 or in person at the Cooperatives June 18 annual meeting, at which time

    election winners will be announced.

management and executive positions including roles as chief administrative officer, chief financial officer, and chiefexecutive officer.

He served on the Cedar Park City Council from 2005 to 2009 and served as Mayor Pro-Tem in 2008. At Cedar

Park, Thomas was part of the governing body of one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Thomas pursued

economic development improvements; transportation upgrades, and improved public works infrastructure, yet

implemented financial controls to curb expenses and reduce taxes. He believes that planning and stable leadership is

necessary for the success of any organization.

Thomas was appointed by the Lower Colorado River Authority Board to serve on the

Travis/Austin Regional Council in 2008 and 2009, representing Travis, Hays and Williamsoncounties by providing input and discussing issues related to LCRAs mission to provide
