Constructing pieced blocks (using template piecing)

Designer’s note: Foundation piecing template is provided for an alternative method to construct the pieced blocks.

1. Sew (2) Fabric A whole block “B” pieces to the top right and bottom left sides of (1) Fabric G whole block “C” piece, followed by (2) Fabric B whole block “A” pieces to the top left and bottom right of same whole block “C” piece to complete (1) whole pieced block.

1a. Make a total number of blocks for the following fabrics:

(5) blocks: G, J, K

(6) blocks: D, E, H

(7) blocks: C

(8) blocks: F

2. Sew (1) Fabric B half block “A” piece to the top and (1) Fabric A half block“B” piece to the bottom of (1) Fabric I half block “C” piece to complete (1) half pieced block.

2a. Make a total number of half blocks for the following fabrics:

Quilt Top Assembly

1. Piece rows. Referring to quilt image for fabric placement, arrange and sew together

(5) whole blocks to make pieced rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11

(4) whole blocks and (2) half blocks to make pieced rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10

2. Sew together pieced rows to complete quilt top.

Finishing

10. With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then quilt top to form quilt sandwich.

11. Baste and quilt as desired.

12. Attach Fabric I binding to complete quilt.
