Box 1777 Morgan Hill, CA 95038 Attn: Sal Akhter, Project Liaison Subject: ENGINEERING GEOLOGIC PLAN REVIEW LETTER Proposed South Valley Islamic Center APN 779-06-002 14045 Monterey Road Santa Clara County, California Dear Mr. Akhter, At the request of your designer, Mr. Kim Tschantz of Cypress Environmental and Land Use Planning, I have prepared this Engineering Geologic Plan Review Letter for the South Valley Islamic Center to be constructed on the property, APN 779-06-002, located at 14045 Monterey Road in Santa Clara County, California. I have previously completed an Engineering Geologic Investigation for the property, dated November 20, 2007. As part of this Plan Review Letter I have communicated with Mr. James Baker, the Santa Clara County Geologist; Mr. Barry Milstone of Milstone Geotechnical; reviewed my previous investigation and the current Master Site Plan by Daniel Matthew Silvernail, Architect, dated October 3, 2014; visited the property on October 21, 2014, completed engineering geologic analysis, drafting, and preparation of this Engineering Geologic Plan Review Letter. I understand that Milstone Geotechnical will be preparing an updated Geotechnical Investigation for the proposed project. The new project plan includes construction of a mosque, community building, cemetery, caretaker’s residence, playground, sports courts, maintenance building, tent camps, bathhouses, and parking lots, as shown on Figure 1, Site Geologic Map. Based upon subsurface investigation completed during my previous Engineering Geologic Investigation, the northern portion of the property is underlain by Franciscan greenstone at depth. Colluvium mantles the hillsides in the central portion of the site and older alluvium underlies the flat-lying terrain on the southern and eastern margins of the property. STEVEN F. CONNELLY, C.E.G. Site conditions have not significantly changed since my previous site work, with the exception of the removal of the old burned home on the property. In my opinion, the proposed project is feasible provided it is constructed according to the recommendations to be provided by Milstone Geotechnical. !Please call if you have questions regarding this Engineering Geologic Plan Review Letter. !
