Still Image Analysis

This is an image used in the trailer, which shows the main character is in distress and discomfort. This is indicating that the man is in distress due to the antagonist in the film. The fact that the man has his eyes shut may also indicate that the antagonist is a spirit and can only be seen in spirit form. This is conventional for the horror genre because it connotes fear and danger. This is an image used in the trailer, which shows the setting for the movie, this tells the audience that the horrific events in the film will take place in that house. The house looks big and modern which suggests that the owners are wealthy and this is conventional as in horror films the rich are often targeted and threatened by the antagonist’s.

is. This is conventional because it scares the viewer and the idea of a horror film is to scare and frighten.

This shot shows the mother and child to be vulnerable as they are holding each other as if they need each other to survive. This shot is suggesting that the mother and child cannot live without each other, which makes them prime targets for the antagonist. The lighting is also low key and dark for the shot, which also suggests that something bad is going to happen to them. This is conventional because in horror films innocent people are most

often attacked. This is an image used in the trailer, which shows the antagonist behind the man in the movie. This shot is used to scare and frighten the viewer and to show them the antagonist and what they look like. This is a conventional shot because it shows the antagonist looking frightening and the intention of an antagonist is to scare the viewer. This shot also shows the man to be unaware of the antagonist’s presence, which suggests that the antagonist is I a spirit form.
