Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Joy of Marriage

“But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.’” - Mark 10:6

A joyous time for a church community is celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage with their

parishioners. I often see many of our local clergy on social media with pictures of newlyweds, and

most couples have photos and videos of their special day. We even read in the Gospel of John how

Jesus performed a miracle at the wedding feast at Cana by changing water into wine. Unfortu-

nately, for some, as time passes, the joy of marriage can turn to sadness and hurt, and the couple

eventually separates.

A reality today is that many couples have divorced. The reasons for the separation are

varied, but in the end, the two parties are usually left picking up the pieces. If you have not been

through a divorce, you likely know someone who has, and the fallout can have lasting impacts on

family as well as friends. Unfortunately, there is a lot of false information and misconceptions

regarding the place of divorced persons within the Church. There are a couple of things to keep in

mind.

Being civilly divorced should not prevent you from coming to Church and receiving the sac-

raments, as long as you have not entered into a new relationship.

However, after a divorce, many will eventually seek another relationship, fall in love, and

want to marry again. There is a process that is necessary for a Catholic who was originally mar-

ried in the Church, is divorced, and desires to marry again. It is called the annulment process.

You should contact your parish priest or deacon to discuss how this process works.

Please know that the Church is always here to welcome you home and to assist you in dis-

pelling any misconceptions you might have about marriage and divorce. Again, if you have ques-

tions about your marriage, past relationships, and getting right with God, talk to your local par-

ish priest or deacon. They can answer any questions you might have so that you might have that

peace of mind that only God can give you. ~~~Bishop Gregory Parkes

Second Collection October 9th and 10th

Your help is greatly needed to continue with the upkeep and improvement of our facilities. Your

generosity is gratefully appreciated.

APA

Congratulations to our Parish for once again exceeding our APA Goal. Thanks to everyone who

pledged and gave so generously. The ministries supported to include the homeless and seminari-

ans will be receiving the benefits of your generosity. We can now solely concentrate our efforts to

completing our Parish renovation campaign. Renovations are underway. 2nd Collection on 2nd

Sundays of every month gives us the opportunity to march towards this goal.

Letters to Father...

Another thoughtful deed. ——Father Paul, Enclosed is a check made out to the St.Luke Building

Fund. My Mom, Frames Lippman, passed away on June 8th 2021. She wanted St.Lukes to have

something from her for all the years of comfort you and your volunteers provided to her. Thank you,

Donald Lippman.

What a great way to leave a legacy for the Church! When we live we all need money. But when we

die we can not take it with us. Why not leave something in our wills to continue the ministries of

our Church. Volunteers, thank you very much~Father Paul

Dear Father Paul, I have been a member of St.Luke Parish for some years. I do contribute monthly

to the building fund. I want to make this .. donation specially for the roof repair. I love my parish

very much and want to always support the care of our Church and property.

I appreciate you very much as our Pastor and leader of our Parish, as well as Fr.Camilo and sister

Vigy. I feel blessed to belong here. (No name on the letter)

A child of 6 years wrote on behalf of the family— Dear Father Paul, We would like to offer you

money for the roof. Thank you for helping us pray. Use the enclosed money for the repair of the roof

or renovation of the church. (Name with held for privacy)

One more letter of gratitude—-Dear Father Paul, Please accept this check for the Parish Build-

ing Fund. It is given in Thanksgiving for all the prayers offered to Jesus Christ the Divine Healer

during my cancer scare. I am fine now looking forward to returning to Florida soon! Prayers of-

fered, prayers answered, great sense of gratitude and peace. (Name with held)

These letters brought lots of positive strokes for us. I hope this will inspire you also to do your part

and encourage you to make the sacrifices for the good of our church. Do you have any special bless-

ing to be shared with your parish family? ~ Father Paul

Sharing the Gospel: Parents need time to talk alone. Each

child needs time to talk to his or her parents. Children need

time to talk with each other. When you listen to each other, you

listen to God. If you have a fight with someone in your family,

stop fighting and walk away. Take a deep breath. Pray for your-

self and the person with whom you were fighting. When you go

back, God will help you make peace.

Prayer : Lord, help my mommy, daddy, brothers and sisters

get along with each other.

Mission for the Week: If I am angry, I will walk away, pray,

and go back to make peace.
