VEHICLE STABILITY

The apparatus shall comply with the vehicle stability requirements of the 2009 edition of NFPA 1901. The apparatus shall be considered substantially similar to a previously tested apparatus meeting the stability requirements based on section 4.13.1.1.2.

TIRE PRESSURE INDICATING VALVE CAPS

The apparatus shall be equipped with a visual indicator on each tire to warn the operator when tire pressure needs to be checked.

SPECIAL LABELS

All labeling shall meet the 2009 edition of NFPA 1901 Chapter 12.2.3.3. A permanent plate shall be affixed in the front left side driver's compartment specifying the quantity and type of the following fluids that may be used in the apparatus for normal maintenance. Where a fluid is not applicable to the unit, the plate shall be marked N/A to inform the service technician who may not be familiar with the apparatus.

A permanent label shall be affixed in the driver's area that states the maximum number of personnel allowed to ride on the apparatus at any time. A sign shall be affixed in the chassis cab, in plain sight of the driver, that states the overall travel height of the apparatus. A sign that reads “OCCUPANTS MUST BE SEATED AND SEAT BELTS MUST BE FASTENED WHEN APPARATUS IS IN MOTION” shall be visible from each seated position. A sign that reads “DO NOT WEAR HELMET WHILE SEATED” shall be visible from each seated position. Any other appropriate label(s) shall be affixed in noticeable locations to ensure the safe operation of the apparatus.

REAR CHEVRON REFLECTIVE STRIPING

In addition to the custom striping pattern supplied on the apparatus, there shall be additional striping applied to the rear of the unit as recommended by the body manufacturer. At least 50 percent of the rear-facing vertical surfaces, visible from the rear of the apparatus, excluding any pump panel areas not covered by a door, shall be equipped with retro-reflective striping in a chevron pattern sloping downward and away from the centerline of the vehicle at an angle of 45 degrees. The striping shall consist of alternating red and fluorescent yellow retro-reflective stripes. Each stripe shall be a minimum of 6" in width and shall be applied to the apparatus at 45° angle.

MAXIMUM SPEED REQUIREMENT

The maximum top speed shall not exceed 60 MPH (95 km/hr) or the tire manufacturer's maximum fire service speed rating, whichever is lower on vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 50,000 lbs. (22,680 KG) or a combined water/foam capacity over 1,250 gallons.

CHASSIS SEAT BELTS

The specified chassis does not meet the NFPA recommendation of section 14.1.3.4 which requires the seat belt webbing to be bright red or orange in color. This item was not requested/specified by the end user.

VEHICLE DATA RECORDER

The specified chassis does not meet the NFPA recommendation of section 4.11 for a vehicle data recorder system. This system was not requested/specified by the end user.

CHASSIS ENGINE WORK LIGHT(S)

One (1), 12-volt work light(s) shall be installed in the chassis engine compartment to provide adequate lighting.

OEM PAINTED CHASSIS CAB

The chassis cab shall be as painted from the chassis manufacturer.

OEM ALUMINUM CHASSIS RIMS

The chassis rims shall be ordered as aluminum from the chassis manufacturer.

APPARATUS BODY

The apparatus body shall be approximately 150" long x 100" wide and designed to mount on a 108" cab to axle chassis. The complete undercarriage, body and compartment assembly shall be modular style, to be easily removed and mounted to another chassis. NOTE: The cab to axle may vary slightly dependent on the chassis manufacturer.

BODY AND COMPARTMENT CONSTRUCTION

The apparatus exterior shall consist of 1/8" aluminum T3003 treadbrite sheets and overlays formed using the break-and-bend method of fabrication and welded. These areas include the full height vertical area of the front compartments, top of compartments, rear of the apparatus body and the area below the tank at the rear. The compartments shall be constructed of 3/16" T5052 smooth aluminum sheets, formed using the break-and-bend method of fabrication and aluminum mig welded. This uni-body method of construction forms the aluminum into a strong, yet flexible structure. The compartments will be properly sealed to keep dirt and water from entering. The compartment floors shall be sweep out type and be made to the largest practical dimensions in order to provide maximum storage capacity.

RUB RAILS

Extruded anodized aluminum rub rails shall be furnished below the compartment doors, on both sides of the apparatus body.

REAR FENDER WELLS

The rear fender wells shall be constructed of aluminum treadbrite with a heavy-duty polished extruded aluminum fenderette. A circular smooth aluminum inner wheel liner shall be furnished for each fender providing an easy to clean area. Sufficient clearance shall be provided to allow for the use of tire chains when the apparatus is fully loaded.

UNDERCARRIAGE STRUCTURE

The undercarriage structure shall be fabricated of steel and mig welded to form an integral structure. The carriage will support the tank, compartments, fenders and rear step. The steel tube cross members to be 2" x 3" x 1/4" thick. The area between the body compartments shall have a 3" x 5" x 1/4" thick, steel angle, welded around the inside perimeter of the undercarriage to cradle and support the polypropylene tank and keep it from shifting, within the body. The side compartments and fenders shall be adequately bolted to the steel tube cross members of the undercarriage structure.

The complete undercarriage structure to be hot dipped galvanized after its fabrication and construction, and shall have a life time warranty for rust and corrosion. (NO EXCEPTION) There shall be a minimum of 1/4" rubber pad installed between the cradle and the bottom of the tank to prevent chafing. (NO EXCEPTION)

MUDFLAPS

Two (2), mudflaps shall be supplied and mounted one on each side behind the rear wheels.

COMPARTMENT ROLL-UP DOORS

All roll-up type doors shall be Robinson Shutter type, with 34mm aluminum slats that roll onto a spool at the top of the compartment. Each slat has interlocking end shoes to prevent each slat from moving side-to-side and binding the door. Between every slat is a co-extrusion PVC & Rubber inner seal to prevent metal-to-metal contact, dirt and moisture from entering the compartment. This inner seal is hidden to provide a consistent image of the door. Each individual roll-up door shall have a four inch diameter counterbalance operator drum to assist in lifting the door along with a two inch wide finger pull integrated as part of the bottom rail extrusion for easy one hand opening and closing. There shall be nylon end shoes on every slat to assure operation without constant lubrication.

The slats, track and trim shall have an anodized satin finish to eliminate oxidation and rusting.

The door latch system shall be a full width one-piece non-locking lift bar operable by one hand.

COMPARTMENT L1

There shall be one (1) compartment located directly behind the cab with an approximate opening of 57" wide x 28" high and a usable depth of 26". The door shall be a single roll-up style door.

There shall be floor matting installed in the compartment to provide traction and drainage should water enter the compartment.

This compartment door opening shall be supplied with one (1) lighting strip mounted vertically on the inside of the door opening and activated by an automatic switch located at each door.

COMPARTMENT R1

FIRE PUMP

The pump shall be a Waterous model 3030-LE portable pump with the following performance:

Max Pressure - 100 GPM @ 110 PSI

Max Flow - 400 GPM @ 15 PSI

NOTE: The above manufacturer performance rating is based on maximum full throttle with a flooded suction prior to the installation of associated piping. The impeller shall be high strength corrosion resistant bronze, fully enclosed, double hubbed to balance hydraulic thrust, and mechanically balanced to eliminate vibration. The volute body and head shall be made of high strength aluminum alloy, anodized for superior corrosion resistance. A drain valve shall be located on bottom of the pump volute. The pump shall have a two (2) year warranty.

The pump shall be mounted in the left side body compartment.

PUMP ENGINE

A Briggs and Stratton, Model 350447, Vanguard V-Twin 90 OHV 18 HP engine shall be supplied and mounted to the pump. This engine shall be air cooled, constructed of Dura-Bore cast iron cylinder sleeves, and also feature a full pressure lubrication system with an automotive style oil filter and an oil fill tube with dipstick.

The engine exhaust shall be modified to terminate out of the compartment and below the body.

The engine controls shall be mounted directly on the engine and consist of a keyed electronic start/stop ignition with backup manual recoil start, manual choke, and throttle control. The electric starter on pump engine shall be connected to the 12-volt electrical system.

PUMP ENGINE OIL DRAIN

An engine oil drain valve shall be provided and installed on the engine. The oil drain valve shall have a nipple to accept 3/8" ID hose to allow draining of the engine oil.

PUMP ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM

The pump engine shall be connected directly to the chassis fuel tank when a common fuel is used. The fuel line shall be connected from the pump engine to an electric fuel pump with a separate siphon tube. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

EXHAUST PRIMER

A combination exhaust primer and a spark arresting muffler shall be supplied with the fire pump. Exhaust priming shall be accomplished by a rotating quarter-turn wafer in the muffler exhaust pipe and activated with a push/pull knob located on the pump engine.

DISCHARGE PRESSURE GAUGE

There shall be one (1), discharge pressure gauge installed in line with the plumbing. The gauge shall be a minimum of 2-1/2" in diameter with a white face and black text.

PLUMBING

All plumbing shall be heavy duty stainless steel pipe and fittings with a polished natural mill finish. All discharges and intake NH adapters to be brass chrome plated.

A manifold shall be attached to the discharge side of the pump to facilitate all outlets and reduce friction loss. The manifold shall be constructed of stainless steel square tubing.

All valves, unless otherwise specified, shall be an Akron 8800 heavy duty brass, quarter-turn, full flow, swing out, non-locking valve with a stainless steel ball. The valve body is constructed of high quality brass.

All Akron 8800 series valves shall be supplied with a R1 style handle with a round knob on the end.

TANK TO PUMP

The tank to pump shall be equipped with a 2-1/2" Akron 8825 style full flow, quarter turn, swing out valve. It shall be plumbed with 2-1/2" piping and a rubber flex hose to isolate pump engine vibration. The valve to be located and controlled in the pump compartment.

TANK TO PUMP CHECK VALVE

There shall be a check valve between the pump suction and the water tank valve. The check valve shall eliminate back flow into the water tank when the pump is connected to a pressurized source.

TANK FILL

One (1) 1-1/2" Akron 8815 style full flow, quarter turn valve shall be plumbed from the pump discharge with 1-1/2" plumbing and a rubber flex hose connected to the tank to isolate pump engine vibration. The valve shall be located and controlled in the pump compartment.

INTAKE

One (1), 2-1/2" male intake shall be mounted to the pump inlet. The intake shall terminate with a chrome 2-1/2" NPT female x 2-1/2" NH male fitting with a screen to prevent foreign objects from entering the pump. The inlet shall be located in the pump compartment on the driver's side of the body.

CAP WITH CHAIN

One (1) 2-1/2” NH chrome plated cap with chain shall be supplied for the intake.

DISCHARGES

One (1) 2-1/2" NH gated discharge outlet(s) with a 2" Akron 8820 style full flow, quarter turn valve shall be mounted on the pump discharge manifold It shall be located and controlled in the pump compartment, on the left side of the apparatus.

CAP WITH CHAIN

One (1), 2-1/2" NH chrome cap with chain shall be supplied for the discharge.

REAR DIRECT TANK FILL

One (1) threaded 2-1/2” fill fitting shall be provided at the rear of the polypropylene tank. One (1) 2-1/2" Akron 8825 style full flow, quarter turn valve shall be located at the rear left side of the tank and plumbed directly to the tank with 2-1/2" stainless steel piping and an aluminum support bracket. The valve shall have a female 2-1/2" NH 30-degree sweep elbow with swivel and screen. The valve shall have a chrome plated control handle with knob and will also be equipped with an Akron 3/4" bleeder valve.

One (1), 2-1/2" chrome plug with chain shall be supplied for the inlet valve.

REAR SWIVEL DUMP VALVE

One (1), Newton 10” Kwik-Dump model 1055-34-44-DK stainless steel valve shall be supplied and mounted at the rear of the water tank. The valve shall be 20" in length with top mount manual controls. The valve shall be equipped with a swivel chute that has a horizontal travel range of approximately 150 degrees allowing the user to unload from each side and the rear of the apparatus. A latch shall be provided to store the swivel in stationary position towards the left side of the vehicle during transit.

One (1), 20” stainless steel telescoping extension shall be supplied and mounted to the swivel chute with a spring-loaded clip enabling the chute to be locked or released easily and quickly. The extension shall have a natural polished finish and controlled manually.

REAR TAILBOARD

The rear tailboard framework shall be constructed with aluminum tubing and grip strut style grating. The tailboard shall be 11-1/2" in depth, the full width of the body and bolted directly to the steel undercarriage at the rear of the body.

REAR ACCESS LADDER

One (1), access ladder shall be mounted at the rear of the apparatus on the right side. The ladder shall be constructed with 1" x 2" x 1/8" aluminum tubing, slip resistant rungs, a flip-down step with latch and rubber bumper for easy access.

TOW EYES

Two (2), heavy duty chrome tow eyes, shall be installed at the rear of the body above the rear step. The tow eyes shall have a 2-3/16" inside diameter eye with a 1-1/4" threaded shaft and nut. The tow eyes will be fastened one on each side through the body frame to the chassis frame rails.

WATER TANK

The capacity of the water tank shall be 1,800 U.S. gallons. The tank shall be a wet side low profile "T" square type design and be completely independent of the body and compartments.

For normal fire department applications, the tank shall have a LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY that provides warranty service for the life of the fire apparatus in which the tank is installed. Warranties are transferable if the apparatus ownership changes by requesting the transfer from UPF. In applications where the tank will be subject to severe conditions, the tank may have a warranty unique to the application that is clearly defined for each such application.

The tank shall be manufactured by United Plastics Fabricating Inc. and constructed of PT3 polypropylene material. This material shall be a non-corrosive stress relieved thermoplastic and UV stabilized for maximum protection. All Joints and seams shall be fused using nitrogen gas as required and tested for maximum strength and integrity. The tank construction shall include PolyProSeal™ technology wherein a sealant shall be installed between the plastic components prior to being fusion welded. This sealing method will provide a liquid barrier offering leak protection in the event of a weld compromise. The top of the water tank is fitted with removable lifting assembly designed to facilitate tank removal. The transverse and longitudinal swash partitions shall be manufactured of a minimum of 3/8" PT3™ polypropylene. All partitions shall be equipped with vent and air holes to permit movement of air and water between compartments. The partitions shall be designed to provide maximum water flow. All swash partitions interlock with one another and are completely fused to each other as well as to the walls of the tank. All partitions and spacing shall comply with NFPA 1901. The walls shall be welded to the floor of the tank providing maximum strength as part of the tank’s unique Full Floor Design™. Tolerances in design allow for a maximum variation of 1/8” on all dimensions.

The bottom of the tank shall have a sump with anti-whirlpool baffles and two threaded tank outlets in the floor. One outlet shall be used as a combination cleanout and drain and the other shall be for the tank-to-pump suction line. An additional outlet shall be supplied in the tank floor for a fill/recirculate line. All outlets shall be appropriately sized based on tank and pump capacities. There will be two (2) standard tank outlets: one for the tank-to-pump suction line, which shall be sized to provide adequate water flow to the pump; and, one for tank fill line, which shall be sized according to the NFPA minimum size chart for water tanks. All tank fill couplings shall be backed with flow deflectors to break up the stream of water entering the tank, and be capable of withstanding sustained fill rates of up to 1000 GPM. All auxiliary outlets and inlets must meet all NFPA guidelines in effect at the time of manufacture. The polypropylene tank shall have two mounting blocks built within the bottom of the tank; one in front and one in the rear of tank. The tank shall be fastened to the steel undercarriage crosstubing with two (2) steel u-clamps. Each u-clamp shall be fastened to the tank with six (6), 1/2" diameter steel bolts. Rubber pads shall be located between the u-clamps and the crossmembers of the undercarriage. The water tank shall be tested and certified as to capacity on a calibrated and certified tilting scale. Each tank shall be weighed empty and full to provide precise fluid capacity. Each Poly-Tank® III is delivered with a Certificate of Capacity delineating the weight empty and full and the resultant capacity based on weight. A tag shall be installed on the apparatus in a convenient location and contain pertinent information including a QR code readable by commercially available smart phones. The information contained on the tag shall include the capacity of the water and foam (s), the maximum fill and pressure rates, the serial number of the tank, the date of manufacture, the tank manufacturer, and contact information. The QR code will allow the user to connect with the tank manufacturer for additional information and assistance.

Two (2), polypropylene box stanchions to be built integral with the water tank and hose bed, one stanchion to be located on each rear corner of the tank. The stanchions shall be used to mount scene and emergency lighting. The stanchions will have a removable treadbrite aluminum cover for protection and service.

The exterior sidewalls of the water tank shall extend 6" above the top of the polypropylene tank around the front and sides. This area shall be used to mount scene and emergency lighting if specified.

NOTE: Matting will not be supplied above the water tank.

TANK DRAIN VALVE

One (1), 1-1/2" Watts full flow, quarter turn valve shall be provided under the tank sump.

VISUAL WATER TANK LEVEL GAUGE

One (1), visual water level gauge shall be provided on the driver's side of the water tank in clear view of the operator. The gauge shall be natural in color and 70% transparent.

FILL TOWER

The tank shall have a combination vent and manual fill tower with lid. The fill tower shall be constructed of 1/2" PT3™ polypropylene and shall be a minimum of 12" wide x 16" long x 10" high. The fill tower shall be blue in color indicating that it is a water-only fill tower. The tower shall have a 1/4" thick removable polypropylene screen and a PT3™ polypropylene hinged cover. The capacity of the tank shall be engraved on the top of the fill tower lid. Inside the fill tower there shall be a combination vent/overflow pipe. The vent overflow shall be a minimum of schedule 40 polypropylene pipe with a minimum I.D. of 6" that is designed to run through the tank, and shall be piped to discharge water below the apparatus body and behind the rear wheels. The fill tower shall be located at the right rear corner of the tank.

A weighted steel rod handle shall be mounted on the fill tower to prevent it from accidentally opening.

SUCTION HOSE STORAGE

The apparatus is not equipped with a storage area to accommodate the required suction hose as stated in the newest edition of NFPA 1901, section 7.6.

POLY MOUNTING BLOCKS

There shall be three (3) polypropylene mounting blocks welded to the left side of the water tank by the tank manufacturer. The body manufacturer shall mount aluminum strut channels to the mounting blocks to allow for the future installation of ladders and a hard suction hose storage rack.

MANUAL FOLDING TANK CARRIER

A tilt down folding tank carrier shall be constructed with aluminum tubing and mounted on the right side of the apparatus. The carrier shall be mig welded together for rigid design and durability. There shall be two (2), stainless steel hinges bolted to the top of the side body compartments with stainless steel bolts. There shall be two (2) toggle-lock clamps with locking release levers used to secure the carrier in the loaded position, one on each side. The carrier shall tilt-down 180 degrees along side of the body for ease of loading and unloading a folding tank with the use of two (2) vertical handles mounted one on each end of the carrier. A rubber bumper shall be supplied to protect the body when the carrier is in the down position.

A treadbrite aluminum end cap cover shall be supplied and fastened to the front and rear of the storage rack for protection and strength.

The storage rack shall be connected directly to the hazard warning indicator light located in the cab to warn the driver when the rack is not in the secured position.

NOTE: The folding tank carrier shall have the capacity to accommodate a 2,100 gallon folding tank.

12-VOLT ELECTRICAL

All electrical equipment shall be installed using high temperature, copper, multi-strand, crosslink-coated wire. The wiring shall be colored coded and the function labeled every 3” end to end. All wiring shall be enclosed in a protective loom throughout the electrical system and rubber grommets shall be used where the wiring passes through module walls. All wire connections located under the apparatus body shall be weatherproofed with a clear, flexible, protective coating.

COMPARTMENT LIGHTING

All compartments of the apparatus, where applicable, shall be equipped with Versa-Bryte LED style strip lighting. The lighting strips shall be sealed in a flexible water resistant plastic body with (9) LED’s every three inches and rated 50,000 hours with an output of 33.8 lumens for every 6”. This style of lighting will provide uniform and consistent illumination throughout the compartment.

CAB CONSOLE

There shall be a console installed in the chassis cab between the front bucket seats. The console shall be designed to accommodate the apparatus specific items such as siren controls, radio(s) and other various controls.

The console shall be finished with a black, durable textured coating.

SWITCH PANEL An InPOWER switch module system shall be provided and mounted inside the chassis cab in an easily accessible location on the dash or within the console. The switch module shall contain an adequate number of push button switches to be used for controlling the vehicle 12-volt auxiliary devices. All push buttons shall utilize a tactile switch design that ensures a positive operation. Each switch position contains a push button switch and a status LED indicator directly above the switch.

The switch module shall be connected to one or more power modules via a logic cable to provide power outputs and digital input system control. The power modules shall contain 12-volt DC power outputs rated at 15 amps each and include over current and short circuit automatic fault shutdown protection. The digital inputs are provided for monitoring external conditions such as ignition switch on, transmission in park, etc. and can be individually programmed.

APPARATUS BODY 12-VOLT DISCONNECT

One (1), disconnect solenoid with a sufficient amp rating shall be wired from the battery and activated by the chassis ignition to disconnect all electrical accessories added by the body manufacturer. Items such as auxiliary engine starter, winch, booster reel(s), or high amp load items shall be excluded from the disconnect solenoid. One (1), reset breaker shall be installed between the solenoid output and any electrical load. One (1), indicator light shall be provided to indicate the apparatus 12-volt system is on. The light shall be located in the chassis cab and be visible from the driver’s positions. The light shall be green in color and labeled "BATTERY ON".

TAIL/BACK UP LIGHTS

The rear combination brake and stop tail lights shall be LED 4" round grommet mount with red lens. The rear turn signals shall be LED 4" round grommet mount with amber lens.

The rear back-up lights shall be LED 4" round grommet mount with clear lens. The lights shall be connected to the transmission reverse switch.

CLEARANCE LIGHTS

There shall be 1" LED clearance lights provided to comply with ICC regulations. The clearance lights shall be located one on each side and rear corner of the apparatus body and a triple red light cluster recessed at the rear center of the body for a total of seven clearance lights. Reflectors shall be supplied on the perimeter of the apparatus as specified by ICC regulations.

A polished aluminum, lighted license plate bracket shall be mounted at the rear of the apparatus.

DOOR OPEN WARNING LIGHT

A red flashing LED hazardous warning light shall be mounted in the chassis cab. This light shall warn the operator of any open compartment doors, and/or other items permanently attached to the apparatus that may cause damage should the apparatus be moved. The warning light shall be marked with a decal that states "DO NOT MOVE APPARATUS WHEN LIGHT IN ON".

GROUND LIGHTING

Lights shall be installed beneath the apparatus in areas where personnel may be expected to climb on and off of the apparatus. The lights shall illuminate the ground within 30" of the apparatus to provide visibility of any obstructions or hazards. These areas shall include, but not be limited to the cab doors, running boards, and the rear step area.

The ground lighting shall be activated when the emergency or park brake is set.

SURFACE LIGHTING

The completed apparatus shall have sufficient lighting provided as per NFPA 13.10.3 to illuminate all work surfaces, steps and walkways.

The surface lighting shall be activated when the emergency or park brake is set.

VISUAL WARNING LIGHT SWITCHES

All warning and signal lights shall have switches with an indicator light located inside the chassis cab.

UPPER ZONE A LIGHTING

One (1), Whelen Justice JE2NFPA 56" LED lightbar shall be installed on the apparatus. The lightbar shall have four corner red Linear-LEDs and six front CON3 LEDs (4-Red/2-White).

All white forward facing emergency lights in the light bar shall be deactivated when the parking brake is engaged in the Blocking Right of Way mode as required by NFPA.

UPPER ZONE C LIGHTING Two (2), Whelen RB6T*P Dual Reflector Beacon light with a 60 Watt lamp and large reflector shall be installed on the rear upper corners of the apparatus, one on each side. The driver's side rotator shall be red and the passenger's side rotator shall be amber in color.

LOWER ZONE A LIGHTING

Two (2), Whelen LINZ6R series, Super-LED lights shall be installed at the front of the apparatus, one on each side with a chrome flange. The lighthead shall have red LEDs and a clear lens cover.

LOWER ZONE B/ZONE D LIGHTING

The following perimeter lighting shall be installed in the Lower B and D zones of the apparatus.

One (1) Whelen LINZ6R series super-LED light shall be installed on the front passenger's side of the apparatus. The lighthead shall have red LEDs and a clear lens cover and a chrome flange.

One (1) Whelen LINZ6R series super-LED light shall be installed on the rear passenger's side of the apparatus. The lighthead shall have red LEDs and a clear lens cover and a chrome flange.

One (1) Whelen LINZ6R series super-LED light {will/shall} be installed on the front driver's side of the

apparatus. The lighthead shall have red LEDs and a clear lens cover and a chrome flange.

One (1) Whelen LINZ6R series super-LED light {will/shall} be installed on the rear driver's side of the

apparatus. The lighthead shall have red LEDs and a clear lens cover and a chrome flange.

LOWER ZONE C LIGHTING

Two (2) Whelen LINV2R series super-LED lights shall be installed on the lower, rear area of the apparatus. The LINV2R includes a warning light and a puddle light. The warning lights have six (6) red super-LED lights and four (4) white super-LED lights are installed below to work independently as a surface area illumination light. The lights shall have a chrome flange.

BACK-UP CAMERA SYSTEM

A Hanscom K. #7222 back-up camera system shall be installed on the apparatus. The system shall include a 7” LED color monitor with audio located in the chassis cab and two HC IR250 rugged infrared color cameras with audio located at the rear of the apparatus.

The back-up camera system shall be activated when the transmission is placed in reverse. The operator will also be able to override this signal by turning the monitor on in the cab.

SCENE LIGHTS

Whelen 6SC0ENZR series gradient LED opti-scene lights with chrome flanges featuring inner optics to direct the light downward shall be provided and mounted at the following locations:

Two (2) Whelen 6SC0ENZR LED Opti-Scene lights with chrome flanges shall be mounted towards the front of the tank, one per side.

Two (2) Whelen 6SC0ENZR LED Opti-Scene lights with chrome flanges shall be mounted on the left rear corner of the apparatus.

Two (2) Whelen 6SC0ENZR LED Opti-Scene lights with chrome flanges to be mounted on the right rear corner of the apparatus.

The scene lights shall be activated by a lighted switch located in the chassis cab. Each set of scene lights shall simultaneously activate all the lights on either the left, right or rear side of the apparatus.

The rear scene lights shall also be activated when the emergency or park brake is set to illuminate the rear stepping surfaces.

SIREN

One (1), Whelen model 295HFS2 100/200 watt selectable output electronic siren with a flush mount control head shall be supplied and installed in the cab. This siren is a full function system including radio repeat, public address, SI-Test, 17 scan-lock selectable siren tones and a unidirectional pre-wired microphone.

SPEAKER

One (1), Cast Products model SA7004-1 100 watt speaker(s) shall be mounted on the front bumper of the chassis.

BACK-UP ALARM

The backup alarm shall be an electronic 97-decibel rated alarm installed at the rear of the vehicle. This alarm shall alert personnel any time the transmission is shifted into reverse.

BODY FINISH

After the apparatus body and components have been fabricated and assembled, the apparatus shall be completely sanded and deburred for removal of sharp edges. The completed apparatus body exterior shall be a natural aluminum treadbrite finish.

PAINTED TANK FINISH

The polypropylene tank shall undergo a degreasing/cleaning process and be sanded. Then it shall be cleaned again and primed with an elastic primer and painted to match the apparatus body.

Note: The top of the water tank will be textured.

The water distribution manifold shall be natural black in color unless otherwise specified.

ELECTROLYSIS CORROSION CONTROL

The apparatus shall be assembled using ECK or electrolysis corrosion control, on all high corrosion potential areas, such as door latches, door hinges, trim plates, fenderettes, etc. This coating is a high zinc compound that shall act as a sacrificial barrier to prevent electrolysis and corrosion between dissimilar metals. This shall be in addition to any other barrier material that may be used. All ¼” diameter and smaller screws and bolts shall be stainless steel with a powdered aluminum coating. This coating shall be bonded metallurgically to the stainless screws to prevent peeling and flaking. This coating is designed to reduce the potential for electrolysis and corrosion to occur where items are assembled and attached.

BODY UNDERCOATING

The entire underside of the body shall be coated with a tough, pliable, rubberized coating for protection against abrasion and corrosion. This hybrid undercoating features a water based formula with quick dry capability to achieve early water and weather resistance. The undercoating shall be applied prior to installation of the body onto the chassis to avoid spraying the product on air lines, cables, or other items that would cause normal maintenance to be hindered.

NFPA COMPLIANT REFLECTIVE STRIPING

Reflective striping shall be applied to the exterior of the apparatus in a manner consistent with the National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet 1901, latest edition. It shall consist of a white Scotchlite 4" reflective stripe, affixed to the exterior perimeter of the apparatus body and chassis cab. A white reflective stripe shall also be applied to the interior of each chassis cab door and/or any equipment such as roll-out trays or frames that protrude beyond the body of the apparatus to indicate a hazard or obstruction.

An additional reflective stripe shall be mounted on the body rub rails. The color of the stripe shall be white unless otherwise specified.

BODY STRUCTURE LIMITED WARRANTY

Danko Emergency Equipment Company shall warrant the body structure of the apparatus to be free of defects in design and workmanship for a period of seven (7) years.

ELECTRICAL WARRANTY

Danko Emergency Equipment Company shall warrant to each original purchaser that the Danko supplied electrical equipment are sound and free of all defects of both materials and workmanship, for a period of two (2) years. The warranty shall ensure that the vehicle will be free from defects in the electrical harness and connections under normal use and service within the warranty period.

PAINTED POLYPROPYLENE SURFACE WARRANTY

Danko Emergency Equipment Company shall warrant the completed apparatus to be free of blistering, peeling and any other adhesion defect caused by defective manufacturing methods or paint material selection for polypropylene exterior surfaces for a period of three (3) years.

BASIC LIMITED WARRANTY

Danko Emergency Equipment Company shall warrant to each original purchaser that the apparatus is free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year.

PAINT/STRIPING WARRANTY

Danko Emergency Equipment Company shall warrant to each original purchaser that the apparatus lettering and/or striping shall be free of defects for a period of three (3) years.

STAINLESS STEEL PLUMBING WARRANTY

Danko Emergency Equipment Company shall warrant to each original purchaser that the apparatus stainless steel plumbing shall be free of defects for a period of ten (10) years.

MANUALS

There shall be one (1) printed copy and one (1) electronic copy of the manufacturer operation and maintenance manual provided that covers the completed apparatus. The manual shall include chassis documentation, wiring diagrams, or any other documents or technical data referencing the apparatus. Also included shall be any manufacturers warranties and/or guarantees.

LOOSE EQUIPMENT

FOLDING TANK

One (1), Husky model STF-2100-22V collapsible folding tank shall be supplied and stored on the apparatus as designated. The folding tank shall have a capacity of 2,100 gallons. There shall be a 22 oz. vinyl liner with easy lift handles. The folding tank liner shall be yellow in color. The frame shall be constructed of 14 gauge 7/8” OD steel tubing with a snag free finish. The folding tank shall come standard with one (1) quick release drain placed on the inside of the tank. A stainless steel tank drain buckle shall be included to quickly and easily release water.
