Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District Water Conservation Audit

The sweltering days of summer are just around the corner and with increasing temperatures, come increasing pressures on our aquifers to meet water demands. Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District (TGRGCD) would like to ask for your help in reducing that demand on groundwater.

We offer a free on-site consultation to identify problems areas that could be resulting in higher water usage to home or business owners residing within our District. Following the visit, we offer recommendations to help reduce water usage both inside and outside the home and a “goody” bag full of conservation-related items, including a hose timer, moisture meter, and low-flow showerhead.

We would love to work with you on conserving our water resources and helping potentially reduce your water bill as well!

To schedule a visit, give us a call at 210-698-1155!

To learn more about Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District, please visit us at www.trinityglenrose.com.

Bush students receive presidential volunteer service award

Fifty-six students at Bush Middle School received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) on May 10 at a ceremony and reception sponsored by the Bush PTA. For their service, students were presented with a certificate, a letter from President Obama, and a presidential seal pin.

PVSA recognizes Americans who spend their time helping others in their community and country. PVSA awards three levels of service for ages 14 and under – the bronze award for 50-74 hours, the silver award for 75-99 hours, and the gold award for 100 hours or more.In all, these 56 students logged more than 6,000 hours of service to our community. They are an inspiration and a great example of how young people are willing to dedicate their time to help others. Way to go Bulldogs!

Did you know that you can watch graduation on line? Go to http://www.neisd.net/graduation/index.htm for the LIVE STREAM (at specific times).

Test streaming will start at 7 p.m. on the day of your graduation. The actual ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m.

Kicking off the conference plenary session will be former Texas Senator Jeff Wentworth who will speak on the Texas Castle Doctrine Law. How far can one go to protect their home?

A Neighborhood Safety Panel will take place during the luncheon. Moderated by Jeanne Russell with SA2020, the panel will include San Antonio Police Chief William McManus and Bexar County Deputy Chief Joe Hamilton.

After the luncheon, informal round-table sessions will take place and feature local anti-crime programs such as National Night Out, Volunteers in Policing, Cuellar on Patrol, Neighborhood Watch, and “Meet Your SAFFE Officer.”

The conference will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Laurel Heights United Methodist Church, 227 W. Woodlawn. Other workshops will include legal issues, city code enforcement, water conservation programs, and board training.

The conference is open to the public and a $15.00 donation is suggested to reserve lunch. For registration information or to reserve an exhibit table, go to www.nrc-sa.org, or call 210-735-0586.
