DESIGNED BY NEALAY PATEL
“I was inspired by the cord, and allowed it to
speak to me to see what beads it wanted to
use with it. I’m a huge fan of pyrite beads so
the colors and textures paired well together
to create this quick and simple necklace to
go with any outfit!”

NECKLACE 1. Glue the 18mm cabochon to the suede. Let the glue
dry and trim the suede to 2mm around the stone. Trim
the top part of the suede so that it is slightly hidden
behind the stone (A).
2. Cut a 24-in. (61cm) length of beading thread. Thread a
beading needle and place a bead stopper in the center
of the length. Find the center of the knitted wire and from
the center backside of the stone, sew up through the
suede and the knitted wire around the leather cord. Sew
back through the suede (B).
3. Continue to sew through the suede and knitted wire,
so that the stone is nested inside the knitted wire. Do this
for the other half of the beading thread.
4. Gather the knitted wire and make a tear-shaped loop
around the stone and wrap the 24-gauge wire around the
top (C).
5. Sew through the knitted wire to reach the outer edge.
Pick up a pyrite nugget and a 6/0 seed bead and sew back
through the knitted wire. You have just completed one
picot stitch. Sew up through three wire knits and make
another picot stitch (D). Continue around the tear-shaped
loop and secure the thread.
6. Attach an end cap to each end of the knitted wire.
Attach a jump ring to each end cap and the clasp to
complete the necklace.
