0.1 IntroductionTheTapfloAirOperatedDiaphragmPumprangeisacompleteserieofpumpsforindustrialappli-cations.Thepumpsaredesignedtobesafesimpleandeasytouseandmaintain.Theconstructionisseallessandwithoutrotatingparts.Thepumpsaresuitableforalmostalldifferentchemicalsusedbytheindustrytoday..
Withproperattentiontomaintenace,TapfloPumpswillgiveefficientandtroublefreeoperation.Thisinstructionmanualwillfamiliariseoperatorswithdetailedinformationaboutinstalling,operatingandmaintainingthepump.

1. INSTALLATION
1.1 Receiving inspectionAlthoughprecautionistakenbyuswhenpackingandshipping,weurgeyoutocarefullychecktheshipmentonreceipt.Makesurethatallpartsandaccesorieslistedonthepackinglistareaccountedfor.Immediatelyreportanydamageorshortagetothetransportcompanyandtous.
1.2 StorageIftheequipmentistobestoredpriortoinstallation,placeitinacleanlocation.Donotremovetheprotectivecoversfromthesuction,dischargeandairconnectionswhichhavebeenfastenedtokeeppumpinternalsfreeofdebris.Cleanthepumpthoroughlybeforeinstallation.
1.3 FoundationThepumpisfurnishedwithvibrationabsorbingrubberfeet.Thepumpwilloperateproperlywithoutbeingfixedtoafoundation.Iffixationisneededforaninstallation,makesurethefoundationisabletoabsorbvibrations.Itisessentialfortheoperationofthepumptomountthepumpwiththefeetinadownwarddirection(seesketch).
1.4 Suction and discharge pipingsSuctionanddischargepipingshouldbefullysupportedandanchoredneartobutindependentofthepump.Thepipingtothepumpshouldbeahose,topreventunduestressandstrainonthepumpconnectionsandthepipings.
1.4.1 Turnable connectionsThesuctionanddischargeconnectionsare turnable180°.Thissimplifies theassemblingandinstallationconsiderably. Ifyouwish to turn theconnections,screwa threadednipple into theconnectionandturn.OnthelargermodelsT200,T400andT800itwillsimplifyifthehousingnutsareslightlyreleasedwhileturningtheconnections.
1.4.2 Connection of suction pipeRememberthatthesuctionpipe/connectionisthemostcriticalpoint,especiallyifthepumpispriming.Justasmallleakagewilldramaticallyreducethesuctioncapabilityofthepump.Whenconnectingthesuctionpipe,followingisrecommended.
1) Forsatisfactoryoperation,usereinforcedhoseorcorresponding(thesuctionpowermayother-wiseshrinkthehose).Theinternaldiameterofthehoseshouldbethesameasonthesuctionconnection(atthebottomofthepump)tohavebestsuctioncapability.
2) Makesurethattheconnectionhose-pumpiscompletelytight,otherwisethesuctioncapabilitywillbereduced.
3) Alwaysuseasshortsuctionpipeaspossible.Avoidairpocketswhichcanarisewithlongpi-pings.
1.4.3 Connection of discharge pipeForthisconnectionitisonlyrecommendedasimpleandpositiveflowconnection.Useahoseorflexiblepiping(minimumonemeter)betweenthedischargeconnectionandanyrigidfixedpiping.Coilthehoseatleastoneturn.Allcomponents(hose,pipe,valvesetc)onthedischargepipingmustbedesignedforminimumPN10.
1.5 Air connectionScrewtheairhoseintotheairintakeonthecenterblockofthepumpwithforexampleabayonetcoupling.Forbestefficiency,usethesamehosediameterastheinternaldiameterofthecon-nectionontheairintake.

1. INSTALLATION
1.5.1 Air treatment systemTheairvalveisconstructedforoilfreeair.Lubricationoftheairisnot allowed.However,iftheairisvery dry(laboratoryair),theairmaybelubricatedwithwater.Maximumairpressureis8bar.Aspreventionpurpose,afiltrationoftheairbymeansofa5micronfilterorfinerisrecommended.Dirtintheaircanunderunfortunatecircumstancesbethecauseofbreakdown.RecomendedairqualityaccordingtoPN-ISO8573isparticlesclass3,waterclass4andoilclass3.
Tofacilitatetheoperationofthepumpwerecommendanairtreatmentsystemconnectedtotheairsupply.Thesecomponentsshouldbeincluded:
1) Regulatortoadjusttheairpressure2) Manometertoreadtheactualpressure3) Needlevalvetoadjusttheairflow4) Filter
Thesecomponentsare included inTapflosAir treatment system whichcanbeordered fromus.

1. INSTALLATION
1.7 Recommended installationsTheTapflopumpisflexibleinthewayyouareabletoinstallit.Thein-andoutletportsareinfinitelyturnablemorethan180°tofitvariouspipingsystems.
1.7.2 SelfprimingTheTapflopumpisdesignedtopullahighva-cuum.Itisabletoevacuateanemptysuctionpipewithoutanydamage to thepump.Thesuction lift isup to5meter (16.4 ’) fromanemptysuctionpipeandupto8meter(26.2’)fromawettedpipe.Thesuctioncapabilityde-pendsonthepumpsize(seechapter5.4)
1.7.1 FloodedThepipingsystemisdesignedwithapositivesuctionhead.Thisisthebestwayofinstalltionwhereitisnecessarytocompletelyevacuateallliquidfromthecontainer,orwhereviscous(thick)productsaretransfered.
ImportantDonotexceed0,7barsuctionpressure.Hig-herpressuremaycauseprematurediaphragmfailureandirregularpumpoperation.
1.7.3 SubmergedAllTapflopumpsmaybesubmergedintotheliquid. It is important tomake sure that allcomponentswhichareincontactwiththeliquidare chemically compatible.Theair exhaustmustbeledtotheathmospherebymeansofahose.

2. OPERATION
2.1 Health and safetyThepumpmustbeinstalledaccordingtolocalandnationalsafetyrules.
The pumps are constructed for particular applications. Do not use the pump on applications different from that for which it was sold without consulting us to ascertain its suitability.
2.1.1 ProtectionIntheinterestofhealthandsafetyitisessentialtowearprotectiveclothingandsafetygoggleswhenoperating,and/orworkinginthevicinityofTapflopumps.
2.1.2 Environments in danger of explosion - ATEXThestandardPEorPTFEseriespumpsarenotallowedtooperateinenvironmentsindangerofexplosion.Staticelectricitymayoccurinthepumpunderoperation,whichmaycauseexplosionandinjury.SpecialconductivepumpsTXareavailableforsuchapplications.IfyouhavepurchasedaTXpump,followbelowinstructionsandlocal/nationalrulesforsafeuse.

Earth connection of pump and other equipmentConnectasuitableearthwiretothestainlesssteelearthconnectionthatisplacedontheinsideofoneofthepumphousings.Connecttheotherendoftheearthwiretoearthandalsomakesurethatotherequipmentlikehoses/pipes/containersetcareproperlyearthed/connected.
2.1.3 Air pressureThemaximumairpressureforTapflopumpsis8bar.Higherairpressurethan8barcandamagethepumpandmaycauseinjurytopersonelinvicinityofthepump.Ifyouintendtoapplyahigherairpressurethan8bar,pleaseconsultus.
2.1.4 Noise levelAttests,thenoiselevelfromaTapflopumphasnotexceeded80dB(A).Undersomecircumstan-ces,forexampleifthepumpisoperatingunderhighairpressureatlowdischargehead,thenoisecanbeinconvenientorhazardousforpersonelstayingforlongperiodsinvicinityofthepump.Thishazardcanbepreventedby:
- usingsuitableearprotection- lowertheairpressureand/orraisethedischargehead- leadtheoutcommingairfromtheplacebyconnectingahosefromthemufflerconnectionof
thepump.Youwillfindtheairexhaustdimensioninchapter1.7.3.- useelastomervalveballs(EPDM,NBRorpolyurethane)insteadofPTFE,ceramicorstainless
steel,providedthattheelastomeriscompatiblewiththepumpedliquid.

2. OPERATION
2.1.5 Temperature hazardsRaisedtemperaturecancausedamageonthepumpand/orpipingsandmayalsobehazardousfor personel in the vicinity of thepump/pipings.Avoidquick temperature changesanddonotexceedthemaximumtemperaturespecifiedwhenthepumpwasordered.Seealsogeneralmaxtemperaturesbasedonwaterinchapter5"Data".
2.2 Before starting the pump- Makesurethepumpisinstalledaccordningtotheinstallationinstruction(section1).
- Fillingofthepumpwithliquidbeforestartisnotnecessary.
- Wheninstallationisneworreinstalled,atestrunofthepumpwithwatershouldbeconductedtomakesurethepumpoperatesnormallyanddoesnotleak.
- When installation isnewor reinstalled,check thepumphousingnut tightening torque(seechapter5.5"Data").Afterapprox1weekoperation,thetorqueshouldbecheckedagain.Thisisimportanttopreventleakage.
2.3 Starting and operating- Openthedischargevalve.
- Note! Considering the suction capacity when air is still in the suction pipe, it is recom-mended to start with low air pressure/flow in the beginning. This is not necessary if the pump is filled with liquid before start.
- Whenthepumphasbeenfilledwithliquid,theairpressure/flowmayberaisedtoincreasethesuctioncapacityofthepump.
- Theperformanceofthepumpcanbeadjustedthroughtheairsupplybyusinganeedlevalveandapressureregulator.Theperformancecanalsobeadjustedbynormalflowcontrolonthedischargesideofthesystem.
2.3.1 Dry runningThepumpmayrundrywithoutanyproblem.
2.3.2 Optimizing the pump lifetimeRunningatfullfrequency(maximumairpressure/flow)continiouslywillcauseprematurewearofthecomponents.Asageneralrule,werecommendtorunathalfofthemaximumcapacityofthepump.Forinstance,aT100pumpshouldruncontiniousmaximumat50l/min.
2.4 Pump stoppingThepumpcanbestoppedintwoways:
1)Closethedischargevalve.Thepressurefromthesystemwillstopthepumpautomatically.Thiswillnotdoanydamagetothepump.Thepumprestartseasywhenthevalveisopenedagain.
2)Stoptheairsupply.

3.1 When the pump is new or reassembledIfthepumpisneworreassembledaftermaintenanceitisimportanttoretightenthepumphousingnuts(pos37)afterafewdaysofoperation.Makesuretousetherighttorque,seechapter5.5.
3.1.1 Performance testWheninstallationisnew,atestrunofthepumpshouldbeconducted.Gaugethecapacityatspe-cificairpressure/flow.Thisinformationisforuseincheckingperformanceasweartakesplace.Youwillbeabletosetschedulesformaintenanceofthepumpandtoselectsparepartstobekeptonstock.
3.2 Routine inspectionFrequentobservationofthepumpoperationisrecommendedtodetectproblems.Achangeinsoundoftherunningpumpcanbeanindicationofwearedparts(seebelow"locationoffaults").Leakingliquidfromthepumpandchangesofperformancemayalsobedetected.Routineinspec-tionsshouldbeconductedfrequently.
3.3 Complete inspectionTheintervalsforacompleteinspectiondependupontheoperationconditionsforthepump.Thecharacteristicsoftheliquid,temperature,materialsusedinthepumpandrunningtimedecidehowoftenacompleteinspectionisnecessary.
Ifaproblemhasoccured,orifthepumpisinneedofacompleteinspection,seelaterthischapter"locationoffaults"and"dismantlingofthepump".Youareofcoursewarmlywelcometoconsultusforfurtherhelp.
Wornpartsshouldbecarriedinstock,seeourrecommendationinchapter4.4.

6. WARRANTY & REPAIR
6.1 Returning partsWhenreturningpartstoTapfloABpleasefollowthisprocedure:
- ConsultTapfloABforshippinginstructions.
- Cleanseorneutralizeandrinsethepart/pump.Makesurethepart/pumpiscompletelyemptyfromliquid.
- Packthereturnarticlescarefullytopreventanydamageundertransport.
Goods will not be accepted unless the above procedure has been complied with.
6.2 WarrantyTapflowarrantsproductsunderconditionsasbelowforaperiodofnotmorethan5yearsfrominstallationandnotmorethan6yearsfromdateofmanufacture,whichevercomesfirst.
1. Thefollowingtermsandconditionapplytothesaleofmachinery,componentsandrelated servicesandproducts,ofTapflo(hereinafter“theproducts”).
2. Tapflo(themanufacturer)warrantsthat:
a.) itsproductsasbeingfreeofdefectsinmaterial,designandworkmanshipatthetimeoforiginal purchase;b.) itsproductswillfunctioninaccordancewithTapflooperativemanuals;Tapflodoesnotguaran-
teethattheproductwillmeetthepreciseneedsoftheCustomer,exceptforthosepurposessetoutinanyinvitationtorenderdocumentsorotherdocumentsspecificallymadeavailabletoTapflobeforeenteringintothisagreement;
c.) highqualitymaterialsareusedintheconstructionofthepumpsandthatmachiningandas-semblyarecarriedouttothehigheststandards.
Exceptasexpresslystatedabove,Tapflomakesnowarranties,expressorimplied,concerningtheproducts,includingallwarrantiesoffitnessforaparticularpurpose.
3. Thiswarrantyshallnotbeapplicableincircumstancesotherthandefectsinmaterial,design, andworkmanship.Inparticularwarrantyshallnotcoverthefollowing:
a.) Periodicchecks,maintenance,repairandreplacementofpartsduetonormalwearandtear (seals,O-rings,rubberitems,diaphragms,airvalvesetc..);b.) Damagetotheproductresultingfrom:b.1.)Tamperingwith,abuseormisuse,includingbutnotlimitedtofailuretousetheproductfor itsnormalpurposesasstatedatthetimeofpurchaseorinaccordancewithTapfloinstructions foruseandmaintenanceoftheproduct,ortheinstallationorimproperventilationoruseof
theproductinamannerinconsistentwiththetechnicalorsafetystandardinforce;
b.2.)Repairsperformedbynon-skilledpersonneloruseofnon-originalTapfloparts;b.3.)AccidentsoranycausebeyondthecontrolofTapflo,includingbutnotlimitedtolightning, water,fire,earthquake,andpublicdisturbances,etc.;
4 Thewarranteeshallcoverthereplacementorrepairingofanyparts,whichisdocumented faultyduetoconstructionorassembling,withneworrepairedpartsfreeofchargesdelivered byTapflo.Partssubjectedtonormaltearandwearshallnotbecoveredbythewarranty.Tapflo shalldecideastowhetherthedefectiveorfaultypartshallbereplacedorrepaired.
5 Thewarranteeoftheproductsshallbevalidforaperiodinaccordancetothecurrentlawfrom thedateofdelivery,undertheconditionthatnoticeoftheallegeddefecttotheproductsorparts
thereofbegiventoTapfloinwrittenwithinthemandatorytermof8daysfromthediscovery.

6 Repairorreplacementunderthetermsofthiswarrantyshallnotgivearighttoanextensionto,oranewcommencementof, theperiodofwarranty.Repairor replacementunder thetermsofthiswarrantymaybefulfilledwithfunctionallyequivalentreconditionedunits.Tapfloqualifiedpersonnelshallbesolelyentitledtocarryoutrepairorreplacementoffaultypartsaftercarefulexaminationofthepump.ReplacedfaultypartsorcomponentswillbecomethepropertyofTapflo.
7 TheproductsarebuiltinaccordancewithstandardCEnormativeandaretested(whereappli-cable)byTapflo.Approvalandtestsbyothercontrolauthorityareforthecustomer’saccount.
Theproductsshallnotbeconsidereddefective inmaterials,designorworkmanship if theyneedtobeadapted,changedoradjustedtoconformtonationalorlocaltechnicalorsafetystandardsinforceinanycountryotherthanthatforwhichtheunitwasoriginallydesignedandmanufactured.Thiswarrantyshallnotreimbursesuchadaptations,changesoradjustments,orattempttodoso,whetherproperlyperformedornot,noranydamageresultingfromthem,noranyadaptation,changeoradjustmentstoupgradetheproductsfromtheirnormalpurpose
asdescribedintheproductsoperativemanualwithoutthepriorwrittenconsentofTapflo.
8 Installation,includingelectricandotherconnectionstoutilitymainsaccordingtoTapflodrawings, isforthecostandresponsibilityofthecustomer,unlessotherwiseagreedinwriting.
9 Tapflowillnotbeliableonanyclaim,whetherincontact,tort,orotherwise,foranyindirect,spe-cial,incidental,orconsequentialdamages,causedtothecustomerortothirdparties,including
lossofprofits,arisingbyanypossibleinfringementofpar.3aboveorbythecustomerorthirdpartiesbeingintheimpossibilityofusingtheproducts.
Steadytheabove,Tapfloliabilitytothecustomerorthirdpartiesfromanyclaim,whetherincontractorotherwise,shallbelimitedtothetotalamountpaidbythecustomerfortheproductthatcausedthedamages.
