We changed things up this week and had an inhouse serviceproject day rather that the regular Rotary meeting andspeaker. During "Rotary Has Heart" Service Day, 200 layette bagswere assembled and will be sent to Nicaragua for womenand newborn babies in need. This project is funded in partwith a grant from Rotary District 5910 and matched withfunds from the Beaumont Rotary Foundation and individualdonors. (You can still make a taxdeductible gift bycontacting the Rotary Office at 4098421913.) Thanks to Sharon McCabe, Kathleen Alsup, and ChadBlanchard for ordering supplies for the bags and doingpreparation work, and to Munro's for storing the layette bagsuntil they can be shipped. Rotarians also assembled small goodie bags that are used inthe school education programs for Gift of Life and prepareda mailing for Nutrition & Services for Seniors as part of theevent projects. It was a very successful day for the Club and the agencies wehelped. Everyone left feeling they had done some work tobenefit others, and that always feels good.
